Verizon was slow at times but workable. Minimal road noise. We came in at the Birch Creek Camping sign, after the lower access entry, then noticed an entry further up by the fresh water and camp host site. We'd come in there next time to avoid having to travel so long on the narrow road that runs the length of the campground. We stayed at the next vault toilet down from the host area. Beautiful!

We've stopped here scores of times over the years between Montana and points south. This is the first trip where timing was right for us to spend the night, in early April 2022. We were the only rig here, but there are room for many. There is no fee, but there is a donation box. We had no problem finding a level spot, where we wouldn't have to unhook. It's quiet and pleasant. There is are several pit toilets, and a new drinking water spigot has been installed in the north end. This is the historic site where, on August 15, 1877, after leaving the Battle of the Big Hole, the Nez Perce encountered a group of freighters and killed 5. There is an old marker on the far side of the creek commemorating this event. Also worth seeing in the area is Skull Canyon, about a mile north, on the east side of the highway. Be sure to close the gate if you go up there (don't bring a trailer).

We needed just an overnight stop while enroute to Montana and this area was perfect. We haul a large RV, a 43' 5th wheel and our truck is big. We need a lot of space for turning and for parking. We stayed at the north entrance, the main campground and it was super easy to get in and out. We stayed at a site right by the creek.

We love this place. Expansive campground area all along Birch Creek. Many sites allow you to position your rig next to the creek with an excellent view from your window or door. Quiet and peaceful, especially at the southern end which is further from the main highway.
Great place to relax, watch birds and fly-fish.

This is my second time staying here. High desert environment along Birch Creek. Quiet and sites are well off the highway on BLM land. This is boondock territory although there are some pitt toilets near the northern sections. This is a large area and used by OHVs, hunters, and fishermen. We back our travel trailers right up to the creek and enjoy the view. Lots of beautiful birds and scenery. The location is great if you’re looking to get away from everything. Not so good if you want anything besides solitude.

We spent an enjoyable weekend here for a maiden voyage on our new to us trailer.
Cell coverage is spotty but we were able to send and receive text messages.
Didn’t do any fishing but many other seemed to be having luck.

The main campground is a typical BLM campground with pit toilets. About 13 spots big enough for any size rig. We went in the lower access and followed the gravel road north after heading in about 1 mile. Plenty of spots, very wide open, camped right along the Birch Creek. Quite, some OHV usage, but mostly fishermen following the stream. Is free range, our last morning there were several cows down a ways but they were peaceful. Be aware the nearest fuel is Mud Lake and there is a tiny grocery there some come prepared.
