We really enjoyed our visit here and would come back. There are lots of other rigs here but there are so many places to park. There are many ledges to park against so everyone can have fabulous views....just don't park too close to the edge as it has crumbly sandy ledges. We were only 15 minutes from Valley of Fire State Park and we made two trips down to hike in the park. It is beautiful! We had excellent cell service. Even though we parked right above the road, it's noise did not bother us.

There were about 50 campers in the area and room for that many more. The road is flat but rocky up to tennis ball size. There is room for ~10 campers on the west side of the highway as well. The town of Overton is only 10 minutes away if you need supplies. You can dump 15 miles south at the Echo Bay campground.

There had to be at least 150-200 campers here when we stayed here in early November. Alot of full timers like us are heading south for the winter and this is a great place near Valley of Fire to stay. The area surrounding Overton is gorgeous.
I never realized how beautiful this part of Nevada was, and you will be sure to have amazing sunsets and views your entire time camping. Even if you only spend a day or two checking out the Valley of Fire, this area is awesome to just hang outside and work and enjoy views.

We chose a spot overlooking the wash with the hills in the background. Not too many other campers on the flat, so it was quiet and private. It may be called Poverty Flats, but we had a million dollar view!
Note: pick up your trash!!! You want to camp in these beautiful areas, why leave your crap behind and ruin it for others?

This boondocking spot was fantastic, just about 10 minutes from the park entrance, just a flat mesa with plenty of level spots to choose from. We chose one on the north rim of the mesa, which was awesome for the views out our windows but when the wind blew (one of the days) it ripped up that mesa wall and felt like it was going to roll us right over! It didn't! And the earth is so hard packed in that area it didn't really kick up any dust either, which was nice.

Self isolating during the Corona Virus shut down we couldn't think of a better place to be. Town and Valley of fire State park only minutes away with views in all directions, free camping at it's best, sadly the state park is closed during the shut-down Lin's Supermarket seems fairly well stocked and most services available in Overton, the dump station at the state park is only short drive to the park is normally available but unfortunately not during the shut down, Cal's Service center in town is currently trying to provide dump service for RV's but not laid out well for larger vehicles like ours (40 ft Class A) The nearest Dump station Love's Truck stop is an hour or so south on I-15 is near as we can tell the closest for the time being. Overall our time here will easily exceed the 14 day limit per the BLM but currently doesn't seem to be an issue considering the situation. We will definitely be back someday to visit Valley of Fire SP and we'll be sure to stay here again.

Cell service (AT&T) was great, we had campfires each night, and a small town with a grocery store, laundry mat, and a couple of yummy restaurants is just 12 minutes away. Have Site Quality 4 stars because of all of the large rocks on the campsites - great for building a fire pit but not for toddlers to play around.

Stayed at Snowbird Mesa, also known as Poverty Flats, 4 nights while taking in nearby Valley of Fire State Park. This free boondocking area is conveniently located between Valley of Fire State Park and Overton, Nevada on Route 169 and can accommodate numerous big rigs. The camping location we selected is located at grid coordinates 36.4813552, -114.4510921 and the entrance point from Route 169 is at grid coordinates 36.4817952, -114.4542310. There are several entrances that lead to different fingers of this U.S. Bureau of Reclamation free camping area, hence the above coordinates. Mountain views and scenic canyons surrounded our campsite. Verizon cellular service clocked in at 27.7 Mbps download speed and 8.77 Mbps upload speed. AT&T cellular service was 5G and clocked in at 61.2 Mbps download speed and 9.93 Mbps upload speed. We thoroughly enjoyed this free camping area.
