Outstanding State park! Limited access due to COVID. Enjoyed the zoo and museum attractions. Would definitely stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic park & campground! It was beautiful. Perfectly maintained sites with area for camper and tent if you like. My husband said the site was incredibly level for connections - best he’d ever seen. There were stairs behind the campsite that led to a really cool area with 3 picnic tables for a group or family get together. Then behind that were trails leading up to a great area where you can play games or let the dog run wild! In the evening the campground was very peaceful and amazingly at 5pm we heard Taps played from, I’m assuming, the Air Force establishment nearby. Definitely want to go again and stay longer!

The sites are large, and easy to get in. Very little leveling required. The hookups and picnic tables are well maintained. OTA television works great, cell signal (AT&T) is strong... all this while you watch deer, turkey, and the occasional bear out your camper window. If you are an early riser you can hear reveille in the morning, retreat in the afternoon.. and taps at 10:00 PM from Fort Carson as well as Cheyenne Mountain AFS. This was rated as the best state park in Colorado... and although I love Mueller: I must agree.

We can’t say enough about this park!! The views are breathtaking and the trails are well maintained. Every site gives you your own space without the feel of being crowded. The park staff is very friendly.

Overall quiet except for the amazing sound of trumpet playing at sunrise and dinner from the nearby base.

The pros: Extremely clean and really lovely surroundings, especially at sunset/dusk. You can hear Taps played every night at 10:00 p.m. from Fort Carson. Pretty easy access to Colorado Springs and all that that entails. Sites seemed well-spaced throughout, and definitely were in my loop (The Meadows). Staff were friendly, which isn't always the case in our state parks.
The cons: Surprisingly bad Verizon signal considering how close you are to Colorado Springs. I had to use a booster to get viable internet for working. Also, while I loved hearing Taps played at night from the nearby Fort Carson, I didn't quite love the 6:25 a.m. wake-up call as much. Limited access for walking dogs - they say dogs are allowed on trails in this park, which is technically true, but the good hiking trails are humans only. Dogs are only allowed on the trails in the campground itself, not the cool hikes in the area. Though, you're not TOO far from Garden of the Gods, not to mention the amazing Bear Creek Dog Park.

Stayed 1 night 9/8/2019. Last minute reservation over phone, process easy and friendly and lucky as we got the last available site. Access was easy and close to main roads. Views were fantastic. Lots of privacy on sites 58, 59, 60 and 61. Poured concrete pads, level, full hook ups and clean.
