Most of the place is without shade, but there are a few trees, too. Due to the proximity of the highway noise was a bit of a problem, especially during the night. The ground is mostly dirt and it was good to drive on. However, it looked like if this place can get really muddy in the rain.

Quick off & on access makes this a no brainer for an overnight stay. It had snowed in the area a couple days before. There were still some muddy areas that made me think it could be mess if raining/snowing more recently. The area had a big turnaround available if it's full but we had the place to ourselves and that wasn't an issue.
Road noise was as expected for being only a couple hundred yards from I 40. Once you're asleep, it's just a hum. Great LTE and free.
Only issue: a little dirty. Why do people leave their trash behind? This area would make a great service project to cleanup. Wasn't covered in garbage, but just about every bush had someone's left behind garbage (bottles, cans, wrappers, to - disgusting). Cleaned up a bit, and I know these highway sites especially have this issue, so I deal. Cleaner would get higher rating.

Yes, this boondocking area is near the freeway, but we didn't notice the noise at all (some trees there that block out the truck traffic). Other RV's were there, but it was easy finding a spot as the ground was hard packed. You can go further back, but I found that the dirt road gets kind of bouncy and uneven.
AT&T signal (unboosted) was around 2 ticks, but the strength was pretty good.

Several areas to pull in for the night with fire rings. They all seem level, ours was for sure. Was a little windy but we just parked to where we could sit on the other side with the wind blocked. There is road noise but if you go farther back it’s not bad at all. Would definitely stay again if passing through the area.

The cell phone service is good and I was able to work during the weekdays.
The best part about this spot is the miles of forest roads open to exploring. There are some historic railroad sites just to the north.

Stayed mid Feb ‘19. This is a big area flat area suitable for any size vehicle. Easy access from the highway. Only 1 other small RV already there when we arrived about 7pm. Truck noise from the highway slowed around 11pm then picked up again between 5&6

Had a large level Camp Ground with lots of juniper trees. Was well shaded. There were other campers all around us but not too close. Beautiful skies and sun set. 13 miles into Williams. There is a Safeway there, bought gas at Circle K, filled up 10 gallons of water at the Safeway. Lots of roads for ATV riding. This campground is nothing But nice, free, and the spot where we stayed was very level. Peaceful although there was quite a bit of highway noise but we sort of got used to it and didn’t hear it does match. Would definitely come back if needed.

The road in has smaller than usual ruts, but it’s not too bad...just went around them. Except for another Motorhome, we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Even with all the rain, there was never a worry of getting stuck. You can get far enough from I-40 and not have a problem with noise. We took a toad trip to Williams AZ, 11 miles to the east. They are doing construction on I-40 east and it eventually goes down to one lane. With the rain and the slow down, it took us about 30 minutes to go 11 miles. Also, if you need supplies and are in Williams, you better bring some extra money...it ain’t cheap.
