This campground is just OK UNLESS you are traveling with dogs. There are so many painful stickers in the grass that unless you have dogs that do their business on paved surfaces, be prepared for some hurting and unhappy mutts.

Bathrooms/showers are basically clean. The lake is a tad bit gross, won't be doing ANY water sports there for sure. We do like how convenient it is to get to Provo//Lehi/SLC areas from here. One thing though is we are having difficulty with cell phone data, super SLOW browsing & apps. Basically can't use TMobile streaming data. Am able to download Netflix but it takes a couple hours to download one 30 minute episode.

It was raining hard when we arrived so the lady at the gate offered to pick a site for us. The one she chose was the best one of the loop. Many sites were closed. I assume it was because they had planned to work on the loop a few days later. What we did not know was the fact that the lake was toxic (algal bloom). So the value of being close to a lake went down a bit. Campground is clean but lots of litter at the marina.

We stayed here one night because we added a day to our trip and this looked like a good place to stay close to Salt Lake City. We arrived after 5, so there wasn't a person at the gate. It was a little confusing how to pay after business hours and the registration board inside the park at the campground was out of envelopes, so grab one at the main gate to save a trip back (albeit it's a short trip). We opted for one of the back in sites that was in loop B. We have a pop-up camper and a dually truck. Combined they are about 38 feet and we had plenty of space. There is electric and water hookups as well. Although the campground is very open and flat, you don't feel cramped. There's plenty of space between the sites. The picnic table was a little wonky and rocked a bit, so that was a little annoying. The other downside was the bugs, but you are on a lake. There's also thorns in the grass. Our son got a flat tire on his bike and I found a small thorn on his tire, but not sure that was actually the cause. There's a small airport nearby that wasn't too bad but it seemed to get popular about the time we went to bed. They are all small planes though. You are right by the lake, but you can't really see it over the tall grass. Overall we did enjoy this spot and would probably stay here again. The mountain view is great.

The power was a little sketchy (tried two sites before getting one with clean power). Considering there are no sewer hook ups (dump station only) and only 30 amps, we felt the price was not a good value.

Normally I like state parks. They seem to have room between sites, the prices are generally good and the facilities are mostly maintained. Well, this park had a few right but mostly wrong. The sites were level and very private feeling with most that had great views of the surrounding areas. The interior roads were well maintained and easy to navigate even in our big rig. The maintenance here was awful. Dogs roamed freely and other campers burned industrial waste in their campfires.
My real problem with this place were the campers, but I think this is usually a problem when a campground is going downhill. We camped with new and dear friends and one night when we dropped them off at their site in loop A it smelled as if a tire pile was on fire. They nearly moved sites that night. Their patience paid off in a premium host site that offered full hook ups. But their loop was so bad that they deserved it!
Pros:
Level, private spots
Great Views
Excellent Cell Service
Decent location for city camping
Cons:
Not well maintained
Sketchy campers...is their a 14 day limit?
Checked out camp hosts
No hiking or real trail opportunities in the park

We arrived the day waterfowl season started (October 4), so the duck hunters started shooting 30 minutes before sunrise and are allowed to shoot until sunset.
While we were here, they sprayed insecticide in the grass next to our rig and fumes were so bad we had to close our windows.
There are a lot of goat-heads in the grassy areas so were regularly pulling them from our dog's paws.
There is a nice walk from the campground to the jetty.

We have stayed at Utah Lake State Park 4 times and have enjoyed it each time. We find that it is a good early / late season location when the mountain are still snowed in or its getting to cold for the higher elevations. We have stayed here in May and October.
All of the sites are about equal and there is a nice mix of back-in and pull through. There are really no trees between the sites so it is fairly wide open. We generally don't like this type of setup and would rather say at more woodsy locations. That being said we have enjoyed our stays here and do like the fact that we can see around the entire loop, which makes it easy for the kids to go off and play and we can keep an eye on them. There is also a large park area outside the campground that also has a small playground. The playground could use some TLC but it is at least good for a few minutes of entertainment.
Each of the sites have a pavilion covering the table but that is about the only shade you can expect. The fire-pits in the site could use some work (Many are rusted out at the bottom, very few have cooking grates, ours had been run over) but you can still have a fire in them. The double sites are nice as they have separate driveways for each rig allowing you a bit more space. They also have fire-pits between the two driveways which is nice.
All the times in October we have been here there have been bees and mosquitoes. You need to be extra cautions to keep your doors closed or you will have a lot of flying friends in your rig. As mentioned there is an airport nearby and you do hear some noise from small planes. Also you will hear shots from duck hunters if you stay during the duck season. Lots of people fish the lake but we personally have never caught anything.

It was too cold to use the showers, which have the timed, push button, one temperature faucets, which we don't care for anyway. On our stay in June 2009 mosquitos were a problem but none this time at the end of Sept.
Provo River Parkway, a paved 15 mile bike or walking trail is just outside the park entrance, and you can also walk to the lake and out on the jetties. Convenient to Provo for shopping, laundry, etc. Less than 20 miles to Provo Canyon and Alpine Scenic Loop drive for hiking in the mountains.
There is an airport nearby but only small planes come and go, so there is some noise at times. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Provo.
