Question about Tom's Best Spring Dispersed Camping

My husband will need to work for part of our travel at Tom's Best Spring. He is a computer programmer and I am wondering if anyone has experience with this and if they would recommend a mobile hotspot and if a booster would be needed? Usually we camp to get away from it all but hoping to go for an extended trip and cannot take off that much time. Thanks!

Hi, We were able to download movies at 5G speeds in the Dispersed Camping area. No booster, just wifi out our phone to the computer for download. Awesome spot.

Good news! We used a mifi hot spot from Verizon that we got separate of our unlimited plan just to guarantee he wouldn't be throttled. It worked perfectly! No lag in video conferencing at all. We also just used our solar generator to charge his computer and phone. Worked like a dream. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Wish I would have tried this during covid 😂

See my review from 5/21. "We have a 40' dp, and were able to drive right up the road. We did disconnect, though. The road, Tom's Best Spring Rd (fr 717), was well kept and pretty smooth. If you go over the little ridge, there is some washboarding, but it isn't necessary. In fact, we drove quite a ways, and didn't see anyone camped. That said, the first few miles off 12, there are lots of opportunities. Depending on your size, some are better than others. But don't be afraid of this place! We also had pretty good ATT and Verizon. Not a lot of groceries around, so come prepared. (back to Panguitch). This is just between Red Canyon and Bryce. Such an ideal spot!" Although we weren't working, so I don't know exactly how much he needs. Our Verizon MiFi did a great job.

We stayed there twice, in different spots, once in July 2020 and again in March 2021. We stayed a good distance in from the road in 2021 and had fantastic cell service for T-Mobile, a full 4 bars on iPhone. Connection and speed were both excellent for data and voice. We were able to use Apple Music and stream videos with little/no lag, send pictures via email and post to Instagram with no problem. Video conferencing quality is unknown for me as I never had to video call anyone but none of my calls ever dropped, even deep into the sites. I think you will likely be okay without a booster here - check out the reviews and you’ll see many agree.

We had service when we stayed there. We have an att hotspot and Verizon. Not sure which we used. But I vaguely remember our cells (Verizon) worked. But I am not sure if we had to use our booster. I don't think we did.
