The Breeze RV would stay here again

“Beautiful, quiet park on huge reservoir. Restrooms need to be replaced.”

We camped here in a tent while on a road trip to the Jack Daniel's Distillery in nearby Lynchburg. Getting here was no problem in our pickup truck though it's best to follow signs from Winchester or Tullahoma and ignore your GPS.

Staff in the Visitor's Center was friendly and helpful. We went in, chose our site and came back to register.

Campsites were mostly good with level gravel pads for your tent. Some sights were a level down the hill from the roadway but had steps to get down to the pad. Our table and fire ring were in good condition. Not all sites could fit larger RV's but there were a few Class A's and longer travel trailers. Campground was not crowded, mid-week in middle of August so you could choose the best sight for you.

It was super quiet and peaceful. There was a pretty good network of trails with a paved path adjacent to the campground. Newsletter notes some interesting ranger programs though we didn't experience them.

Have to agree with previous review that restrooms were pretty bad and need to be torn down and replaced. Didn't notice leaky water spigots, they looked fairly new to me. We did not use the electric hookups because we only had our tent.

I used the park wifi for basic surfing and it worked well with the few campers that were present.

Anoldman would stay here again

“Run down and hard to get to”

Reviewed Mar 06, 2017

Overall Rating

What a shame! It's easy to see this park was once beautiful with scenic trails and nice campsites and amenities, but those days are gone. While the campsites are still pretty nice the rest has declined. Shower / restroom buildings are badly deteriorated and need to be replaced. Trails are strewn with leaves and tree limbs and rickety picnic tables adorn many campsites. Water faucets often leak and power outlets are worn and frequently heat due to the loose connection. Park staff ride through in shiny pickup trucks but don't seem to do anything to care for the park. The drive to get there requires traversing narrow, winding roads with frequent sharp curves and no shoulders. I'll go there again simply because it's close to home, but it badly needs some renovations.
