Beautiful camp site but very loud.. it is Tuesday Sept 16 and thought children would be in school. People need to control their children and Adults needs to lower their voices.

We preferred the smaller towns here to Bar Harbor. Don’t miss the walk to the beachside picnic area. Loop C is the only loop for RVs and the first row of sites (2-12) are paired up twin sites. Although you are indeed right next to your neighbor, they are arranged so you park street side to street side. Our rate is the Senior pass rate.

This Acadia National Park campground is located at the south end of Mount Desert Island. The campground is pretty with decent paved roads. However the sites are small and close together in a wooded setting, not uncommon for a national park. Some of the sites have no separation at all with the neighbor on one side. The bathroom door slammed when people came and went. We found the crowded atmosphere unpleasant and mostly hid inside our camper while there, running our air cleaner to clear the heavy campfire smoke.
We were able to snag a site without a reservation in Aug 2015 by calling ahead that day. Since it is a good drive out of the way, they will hold a site for you for 1 hour. You can call once you get to the town of Ellsworth. However, we couldn't get the same site for 3 nights and had to move after 2. Check out time is an absurdly early 10am, which was helpful on our move day, but inconvenient on our check out day.
The campground is a good location for a base of operations to explore Acadia National Park. Across the road from the campground is the Seawall day use area which is a pretty overlook on the atlantic ocean. Great spot for a picnic or to hang out and relax for the day. Lots to see and do in Acadia National Park. During peak season, it is a good idea to take advantage of the free shuttle as parking at the popular spots can be very difficult.

Old park, sites only about 45-50' long, heavily treed with lots of shade in most cases. No utilities, water and dump station nearby, generator rules are liberal.
One of three C/G in the park. The other is close to the "Disney World" side of the Park, i.e.: Bar Harbor, Sand Beach, Parkway Drive and hikers and bikers and kids all over the roads. Lots of traffic there at Blackwoods c/g.
The Seawall C/G is close to nice little towns like Southwest Harbor, Bass Harbor and less formality than the Bar Harbor atmosphere. More our kinda place! Very uncrowded in early June as weather and family activities keep the hoards from traveling then.

Between the carriage trails for hiking/biking, the beauty of Mount Desert Island and the stunning Maine coastline for paddling, pristine lakes… well… this is where to be. I paddled out of Seal Co...
