Great little place. Thought it was free but when we got here found it was 20 dollars a night, which is not bad since sites were were built well. Was really windy during the night and found out from a neighbor that it is always windy here. Definitely will try back in the warmer months to enjoy outside more and do some hiking.

Sites are developed and being further developed with amazing fire pit areas (although no fires allowed now due to high fire hazard still in Nov), picnic tables, tent pads, but no hookups. Long drop bathrooms around, good signage to find the campground, some sites have better solar access than others, amazing views from sites 1-7. Easy enough to get to staying on the paved road as long as possible as other previous posters noted, even with big rigs. We're in a 39ft 5er toy hauler and no probs fitting in most all sites. Many sites available on a late Thursday afternoon. 72 hrs max stay, and the sign says no alcohol - even in possession - whatever, its Colorado. I'll stay here again even if we have to pay. Bike trails all over so ride from camp and Oil Well Flats trail area is only about 20 min away, and plenty of moto/rzr/atv trails the same distance away - no rzrs/atvs can be driven on campground roads though so have to transport. Great Verizon without using weboost - getting 25 mbs down. Chill, quiet, and dark.

This is a great little campground, but the site was pretty trashed when we got there. We had to pick up 3 bags of garbage before we could set up camp and let the pups out. What bothered me the most was that there was human poop all around the site, which I totally don't understand because there are pit toilets right there. Maybe it's a covid thing where people are afraid to use pit toilets, but these pit toilets were pretty clean and respectable as far as pit toilets go.

This campground have several trails, walk or bike with nice views. Canyon Rim trail have some nice views Royal Gorge. I rode my mountain bike on the trail, which was fun but a little ruff. Take a trip to Royal Gorge and walk across the suspension bridge. Great views of the Arkansas River and Royal Gorge. Also there's a Zip line you can do across the Gorge. It's a fun Zip line.

PuraVida's review is spot-on. Love site 3! We used Google Maps to get here. On G Maps there are two locations for the Campgrounds. Choose the southern one for RVs. The one to the north is the tent only camping.

Sites are crushed gravel pads. Some are rather short. Only a few can handle longer RVs. No hook-ups of course, but there are bear proof garbage cans and a vault toilet. Only complaint and reason this is not a 5-star review is that the vault toilet was a mess. Definitely has not been swept out in a long time.
We did the Canyon Rim trail and the Loop Trail. Wonderful hikes and when on the Loop trail you get some really good views of the Royal Gorge.
When driving up to this campsite, you will take a right of off F30 onto a gravel road. The first sign says East Ridge Campground Trailhead....after about 1.5 miles you will come to a Y in the road...go to the right and you will see the campsite sign. If you go left (which is how Waze took us), you will end up in the tenting only area and the road is narrower and rougher.

There are a limited number of campsites, so you better get there a bit early if you’re trying to camp for the weekend. I saw a few vehicles come in and go out right away because all the sites were taken.
Like the review below mine, the GPS on Campendium isn’t quite accurate. I used Google Maps and the actual location of Royal Gorge East Ridge Campground is located there. Just click it and go!

Turn off Highway 50 at Royal Gorge entrance road and stay on the paved road until the 1 mile from Royal Gorge sign and you will see the pictured entrance sign on your left. 8 tenths of a mile of gravel road. Part of the campground is tent only, marked by a small sign. 72 hour limit for camping without permission. Arrived on Tuesday, left on Friday, less than 50% use. Some open areas, others with small Pinon's. Less than 2 miles to Royal Gorge. Camp area clean, pit toilets room areas a little trashy.
