I will let you know when we go and why as everyone has their own likes and dislikes of a campground. We have been there (and in this area) in the shoulder months like Fall and Spring. Most recently, we went in November. We like it, because it's busy, but not too busy where we don't have to deal with party crowds or when the campground is less packed and more spread out. The weather is cool and will have early storms, but the storms have been short and won't leave things muddy. Note, the weather has been less predictable lately so be mindful of this. I've been there in Spring and Summer before in the area and I didn't like it too much. It was too much of a party atmosphere, extremely hot, or the water was running too fast where it was not safe to be in. We like to camp here due to friends living in the area, but I do like to fish the Kern River, so fishing is a big consideration. Hope this helps.
