This place has been cleaned up since some of the last reviews. Several sites have power and water but they were taken. Looked like 20A, maybe 30. We're boondocking. Plenty of space for the largest of RVs. My 43' Fifth Wheel got in no problem with plenty of room to spare. Spoke to some other campers, they said the local community ... more

Spoke to some other campers, they said the local community has been working diligently to clean the place up and encourage people to stop more often.
Totally pleased with the campground.
Will definitely stay here again. Perfect spot halfway from Whitehorse to Dawson
Cell service 4 bars but I have no idea who the carrier is.
(we're on starlink but the phone worked before I set it up)

I read the reviews and we drove through it but got a sketchy feeling because it looks totally abandoned and as it it might be used by locals to party. There is a Mountie Office across the street so we went over there and asked about staying over there. The Mountie was friendly and told us that it was ok to stay there and it was free and he pointed out the cabin as you enter the campground and said someone lives there and people will get together there to drink but no one should bother us and if they do, to let them know. We had a nice evening and slept peacefully but shortly after 8am there was a knock on the door. There was a local shabbily dressed on the other side saying that we forgot to pay and it was $25. My husband questioned him and the local changed the price to $20. My husband asked him where we were supposed to pay and the guy said, “The cabin.” Husband told him no and that we had spoken with the Mountie. The guy said ok and walked away.
Now, for the campground: it’s overgrown and unkempt. Many of the spots are not usable. We did not go into the bathrooms. There is a community garden at the rear of the area so there is some traffic (such as it is in a community of less than 100).
Camp with confidence that it’s free and tell that guy to try his trick on someone else!

I was driving to Whitehorse from Dawson and we decided to take a look. It is unclear if it is a pay or free camp. We just parked up front as a sign saying no parking in the campground. It can use some tlc . One bathroom kinda rustic. No paper. Good think had 4 AT&T bars with telus

“There was an unofficial sign that said it was closed.”

We had planned on staying here on June 11, but there was an unofficial sign saying it was closed. So we headed on to our Plan B spot.

As described, this campground is still here and free. It looks like it was YT campground. The signs look "local", although there is no info stating who runs it. Free firewood, near the river, across from the store. The one trash bucket was overfull- the place could use more trash buckets.

Beautiful free riverside Campground halfway between Whitehorse and Dawson City, Yukon ran by the Selkirk First Nation. Approx 30 sites in treed campground. Each site has picnic tables and fire ring. Free wood on site but you might want to bring a chainsaw, ax or hatchet to get wood into manageable burnable pieces. Several outhouse around Campground for tenters or van dwellers. Local trading post across the street has regular unleaded fuel only, small grocery store and cultural center. Last night we were one of only 4 sites being occupied. Everyone has left but us, we decided to stay an extra day and just relax and enjoy. Be bear conscious, we saw 2 grizzlies just a mile from the campground when driving into town. Cellular is strong enough we were able to do a live video chat with no issue here.
