“Very noisy neighbors!!”

Beautiful campsite (18)! There is a large boulder in the driveway, but we were able to manuver our popup around it, closer to the fire pit and table. Unfortunately, our site was next to a block party site (19) . At one point there were 7 vehicles parked nearby and who knows how many people hanging out. The music was loud and lasted well past the quiet hour of 10pm. Several dogs at the party, off leash and barking. Lights flashing on our tent after dark. This occured Thursday and Friday nights. We finally complained to the camp host who was friendly, but seemed very nervous. Her kiddo was at this site playing with the other kids each day...hmmm? She stated these campers were here all the time and no one has complained. Probably because they were all related and feel they own the campground...the party goers were scattered throughout the campground. So much for getting away from it all for some peace and quiet. After making our complaint they were much quieter. So take from this what you will...if you are seeking peace and quiet, this may not be the place if what the camp host said is to be believed. However, if you do go and get noisy neighbors, don't be shy about calling attention to it. Campground rules are only as good as the enforcement of those rules. This really is a beautiful little campground.

“18 is the best creek side spot ”

Just stayed a few days at site #18 at Ophir Creek Campground in Rye, CO. (No hook-ups). Most sites here are for tents but a handful of sites are deep enough for a small RV. This one is definitely the longest/largest and has the most creek access. #18 is private on one side but is roadside on the other. Ophir Creek Campground is just around the corner from Bishop’s Castle and several trailheads are close by. Our biggest complaint was the noise from a large group of Boy Scouts there for the week. But, if you take the forest service road past the campground there are several dispersed spots to boondock - but the road is really rough (used by logging trucks).

Drive past/through the weird private “campground” to finally find this gem of a campground.
