Just wanted to escape with the family for a camping getaway. I was a bit late in the reservation system to get a hook-up spot for our 20ft travel trailer so I settled on no hook ups in the North Camprground, #157. It provided half shade, half sun. It did get pretty warm during the day so we used the time to paddle board and hang out in the water which we accessed from the nearby trail. It was not located near the beach area on the South Campground so we had a stretch of the coast to ourselves and were able to let our dog off leash. At night it cooled enough to sleep comfortably inside with windows open and mini-fan blowing. The wind also provided a little heat relief. The showers were clean and close by. It was probably one of the quietest places we've ever camped at. Site 157 was just the right size for our 20ft TT and F150. Nothing bigger though.

Nice campground with lots of pine trees and wildlife; very windy though. Lake Wenatchee is beautiful (and very windy too). Spacious level sites, with lots of pull-throughs; Clean and quite. Only wish was to have had a septic hook-up.

The only thing that would have made this campground better would have been sewer at hookup sites. Sites with hookups are water and power, but no sewer. The dump station is well designed, with two dump ports, one "inbound" and one "outbound", with rinse water and potable water available. Power was 20/30/50, so big or modern rig friendly. I also found voltages to be stable and sufficient. I don't think we got below 119 volts at any time while there. This is the third electric site I've booked with Washington State Parks where the power quality was excellent. I've paid a lot more for private park sites where the voltage level fluctuates drastically and often times to dangerous lows.
Now to the good part. Pull-thru sites are physically huge, although the layout of the site varies greatly from site to site. You have your pavement for your rig, but then there is a picnic table and fire ring, and beyond that is a raked and level pea gravel tent pad. The pull thru loops can be tight. If you are a truck and trailer and bend in the middle you can probably negotiate it, but if you are on the long side, large fifth wheel or motorhome, say over 35 feet, you'll find that even pull-thus are going to be more challenging to get into compared to a straight through pull-thru. The pull-thru loops feel very tight. I'm 35 feet and found this pull-thru quite challenging. And watch out if you have slides, you may have a hard time opening them or a lot of adjusting your parking to get enough space to deploy them. So, great campsite quality, but pull-thrus can be challenging.
Want to opt for a back-in site. No problem, but the driveways tend to be short, as the back in sites have no utilities and are really meant for tent campers. Plus, most of the back-in driveways are far from level and would be difficult to get a rig level in.
About half of the sites are fully shaded throughout the day, about half of the sites are full sun for most of the day. By my estimation, in the western most loop of the Lake Wenatchee north campground, Sites 149-161 will have shade during the day. Then sites 187-196 will be shaded through the day. Sites 163-186 will probably be full sun for most of the day. Don't mark my words, but this is just an estimate. I'm unsure about the shade situation on the easternmost loop in the North campground.
Trails at this campground are more of the hiking type than biking. If you have a mountain bike you should be OK, but there are some steep drops on some of the trails down to the beach. The Lake Wenatchee North campground is not known for its beach access, but walking a trail will take you to a small beach The beach is the major draw to the Lake Wenatchee South Campground. The north and south campgrounds are both part of Lake Wenatchee State Park.
Facilities were very clean. The bathrooms and shower house look like they have been remodeled recently. The restrooms were typical state colors, the institutional creamy yellow tile and stainless steel, but clean. Showers look to be new build or recently remodeled with modern earth tone tile, single occupancy suites with outside access doors. Washington State Parks charges by the minute for showers so be prepared to bring coin. I didn't notice a token or coin machine at the park entrance kiosk, as other state parks have coin-op showers, but sell tokens at the entry booth.
Near the shower house of the west loop is a playground with newer equipment that was in good order. It should keep younger kids pretty busy, it did keep mine pretty busy.
Cell service was remarkably good. We had AT&T, 2 bars most of the time, sometimes 3, but speeds remained usable for streaming. Phone calls, texting and iMessage were reliable. This feels like a remote location, so we were very surprised at the quality of the cellular service. I've been to parks closer to urban areas and had no service at all. If you are a remote worker, this campground might work out for you. If you have Starlink, you would be best to get a site in the fuller sun area to pick up satellites. The high shade in the shaded section will probably keep Starlink from working.
Leavenworth is a 20 mile drive away. A longer distance than I had expected, and a 30 minute drive because Hwy 2 leading out of Leavenworth is very twisty and turny until about 5 miles from the turn off to Lake Wenatchee. If your goal is to RV to Leavenworth to take it in, this campground is probably not right for you. You'll want to look at closer properties.
This is the perfect place to "get away from it all" but you aren't a long way away from everything. In spite of the large number of campsites in each loop, we didn't find in-and-out traffic too bothersome, plus camping in a pull-thru, your rig provides you some privacy from activity along the loop road. On the other hand, even shaded campsites have sparse ground vegetation, so your site isn't super private and you always kind of aware of what your neighbors are doing. Many thanks to the folks in the Class A with the outdoor kitchen and TV, was able to watch a bit of television with you, although we couldn't hear anything. Good neighbors.
We will book again, however it appears that the campground is very popular and tends to book up fast. I've been getting in the habit of checking on the state web sites to compare what they show as unavailable to reserve and compare that to actual site availablity when where. I was dissapointed to discover that quite a few campsites were not available to book online, but were unoccupied during our entire stay. Based on what I saw with the booking system, these sites had been reserved. I presume that the camper was a no-show. Washington State's cancellation policy is quite punitive, so people go out there and book up sites when they are made available, and because they can't get a refund and the cost of the campsite is something they can psychologically part with, the sites are paid for but go unused. The state thinks the cancellation policy will encourage people to follow through with camping plans and use the sites, however I think it discourages cancellation, which leads to unused sites. It doesn't hurt the state, but it also limits access to those of us that can camp, and sometimes on a moment's notice.

We had a great time at the North Campground of Lake Wenatchee. The weather was decent albeit a bit windy, especiallyby the water. Our first site was 150, which had partial hookups (no sewer). Very shaded and breezy the whole time we were there. We unexpectedly decided to stay another night, so we found another site (177) that was open on the opposite side of the loop, and it was night and day in terms of shade. Our solar was put to good use, as this spot had no hookups. While 150 had plenty of trees, there was no privacy, unlike site 177 which had virtually no trees but plenty of privacy thanks to all of the shrubbery.
However both sites were teeming with squirrels!! They frequently were jumping into our engine compartment and trying to find ways to access our camper. We heard them under our camper and even scurring up the sides as soon as the sun rose. Be sure to secure trash and put away food as soon as you're done as these little guys got into everything and had no problem approaching people. I saw our neighbors have their food and trash rifled through even while they were present! Kids thought it was entertaining but it became a bit tiresome after 4 days.
Overall, it was a good time, and would likely visit the south campground to check it out.

We spent three nights here. Checked in on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend so it was quite busy around the park our first 24hrs. Our site was in the North Loop which has a much smaller beach access than the south loop.
Few things to note about the park
Our site, 172 was in full sun all day. Zero shade. Every other site in the park has some shade. Choose wisely. The site is also next to the primary beach access, but it wasn’t as bothersome as you would expect.
Access at this park is tight for big rigs. Not impossible, but our 35’ Super C could not avoid some branches going in and out. The sites are also a little tight for a big rig with slides. We ultimately had to back out of our pull through site rather than giving it a dual sided scrub with the branches at the exit of the site.

We camped here late August/Early September 2020. This site is described as no shade/full sun but that is far from the truth. It gets morning sun and that’s it, which is perfect for me! Good sized space that fit two good sized tents. We had room for our two dogs as well. Close to the bathrooms and playground (but was closed due to covid restrictions). The bees were ridiculous!! I’m used to the Eastern WA bees but they would swarm the food when cooking!! We’ll have to figure out how to deal with them in the future so we aren’t stuck sitting in our cars just to eat. The wind blew every day which helped keep the temp comfortable. It also helped keep the mosquitoes at bay. Lovely hikes down to the water. Overall thoroughly enjoyed my stay as did my kids! My hubby didn’t care for the wind.
