There are actually several BLM roads west of Carlsbad Caverns on 180 on the left, just past the road to Rattlesnake Springs on the right. We camped on the second road, not rough at all, and explored the third which was also very driveable. We truly enjoyed our time at this BLM campsite and there are plenty of other sites on this road. We also enjoyed hiking around this area as there is a ton to see and explore.
