The crows greeted us upon arrival midday. The sites are well spaced, clean and there are plenty if trees for shade. The city does a great job keeping the area ckean. Trash cans at every site.

We stopped in Gallup, NM for dinner on our way to Arizona and saw that Red Rocks City Park was only ten minutes from downtown. We pulled in around 6pm on a Friday night in November. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the campground and the amount of available campsites. There were spots that were pull through, back in, and parallel. A few minutes after we parked, a very nice camp host greeted us and told us how the reservation system worked. If you want electric and water hookups, the cost is $22 a night. Without hookups, it’s only $10 a night. The camp host gives you a key for the restrooms. There is no laundry facilities on the campground but there were many just up the street in Gallup. Upon arriving, we took a night hike around the nicely lit red rocks. The campground is the trailhead to two amazing hikes: Church Rocks and Pyramid Rock. Amazing views and awesome workout. We would stay here again.

I took away one star because there was trash evenly distributed around the perimeter of our campsite and the ones nearby. I cleaned most of it up, but the City of Gallup might want to do that, although I doubt they are reading this review. Getting water and electricity for $20 a night is good, especially with a hiking trailhead right at the campground. There's even a US Post Office at the trailhead! Be careful with the water....we found it to be a bit dirt-colored, so didn't fill our tank. We'd definitely come back here, despite the trash and warnings of rattlesnakes, wild dogs (who trotted by), cougars, bobcats. The Wild West, right?

50amp power and water at the site + a dump station.
Some of the spaces in the back loop were laid out a bit awkward and were pretty unlevel. It was more private back there so we made it work, but it definitely took us a lot longer to get set up then it normally does.
I was concerned about theft so I didn't leave anything set out. When we got there the office was closed but there was a sign that said a City (maybe it was county, can't remember) employee in a marked vehicled would be around between 6p and 8p to collect payment. The note went on to say ONLY give payment to someone with a marked vehicle as apparently they have had people driving around asking for payment figuring they could get unknowing RV to for over some cash to them thinking they were the city collector.
Also you are not far from Gallup, NM. My brother is a truck driver and he has been warned many times about being careful when at the truck stop in Gallup, NM as there is a lot of theft there and sure enough he had something stolen from him at that truck stop.
So between those two things I would be careful about what we left outside, though I should say I never saw anyone shady or felt unsafe I definitely had my guard up a bit.

As others have described, on arrival seeing no one to pay, we just picked out our site and plugged up. A couple hours later, a very nice lady in a City of Gallup truck arrived, knocked on our door, and collected the fee.
The sunset was breathtaking, the park was well kept, the surroundings beautiful, and the experience exactly as expected.
This small town should franchise the way they run this park to every town in America. Hats off to a wonderful operation.

All dirt so bring some good 2x6s or other type of platform to level your rig.

We made reservations for this park to break up our long drive from Texas to Utah. We did not reach the park until after dark and there were almost no lights. We had to park by the dump station and walk around the park with our flashlights in order to find a site or someone who worked there. After about ten minutes of looking we decided to just pick one that looked like a pull through. Finally someone from the camp approached us and told us that the camp did not assign campgrounds and that you just find a spot that works. That was a first for us. We have never been to a campground that just let people park where ever they wanted.
The area we choose was very level and sandy. We had water and electric hookups. The next morning I was able to go for a little walk while my husband got everything ready to go. The views are amazing and the park was clean. We would recommend this campground to others...Just make sure you are there before dark.

We pulled into Red Rock Park on a whim- driving from Albuquerque to Flagstaff. It was a Saturday at sunset so the office was closed, but within 10 minutes of pulling in a camp ground maintenance person came to collect our payment. We were one of only 6 or 7 other Campers there so we had our pick of where to stay. It was $20 for electric and water (though, we had to un-plug water because it was too cold). We had a fire and looked at the amazing stars above.
In the morning we took a hike around the park (but we had our dogs so we couldn't go very far since the hike is PRETTY intense). The views are incredible and being alone and secluded was a plus too.
We're sure this place is more packed in the summer or during their Balloon Festival in December (which is the second largest in NM!), but for a quiet, beautiful night in New Mexico, this is a great stop.
