This park had fantastic people helping you. That’s where it stops. We are in a 38’ class A. We parked in one of two open 50 amp spots. The sites are literally butt to butt and very close side to side as well. The sites were rough and not level. Muddy and some gravel. There was no grass to potty our dogs. There was a fire pit full of pieces of plywood. There was another spot that was heaped full of ash and junk, from where the fire pit had been. We had seen reviews saying the AT&T was best in the C loop. We hoped that was true because it was intermittent and no upload at all. My husband works full time on the road and good internet is vital. We have the best signal booster we could find because we HAVE to have internet. We parked our rig, and immediately jumped in the Jeep to look at other sites, without 50 amp, in hopes of getting a better signal. As we started down the road, (we were 4 sites from the beginning of the loop), we ran across problems. We couldn’t possibly get our class A any further down these roads. They are rutted so badly, it was like off roading in our Jeep. There were very deep ruts running all the way across the road. All up and down the roads. We headed to Loop C hoping for good internet and better roads. The internet was worse! The roads were just as bad. We then realized that the hurricane coming up the coast was going to dump a bunch of rain here, which could cause the ruts to worsen and maybe even flood. We immediately got online, with our terrible internet and searched for a new place to stay. We hated to have to do this as we were staying here for free, and we were getting our moneys worth. So, Sunday morning, as we were heading out, someone was passing around a petition to send to TT to get the roads fixed. We didn’t see the basketball courts or bldgs. However the tennis courts were a wreck. We made a video of the roads before we left. We may download a bit of that if we can later. Anyway. Don’t come to this park. It’s a shame. The location is really nice. TT is letting this one fall apart.

We have two small kids, so it was a lot of camper time, which is tough. We chose a site in the C loop, and our site was very well shaded by trees, and it felt very private. The site was also spacious. The bath house was very clean. The pool looks beautiful from afar, but once we were in it, I realized that it could use a good, deep cleaning. There were rocks on the bottom and many bugs floating around. The lake (pond) is a decent size, but it’s not very practical for swimming or even sitting on the “beach.” The “beach” is dirt, not sand. The employees have added some tables and chairs and tried to make it look nice, but it’s muddy and dirty, which is tough to overcome. It is a little bit of a drive to major stores or amenities, but it is beautiful farm land and scenery. The location is great for visiting historic sites, and I look forward to returning when the weather is more agreeable!

It's a bit of a drive to get here and depending on which direction you approach from you'll end up navigating some smaller farm roads with dips and turns. But the approach into the campground is beautiful and the views of the lake are nice.
We ended up finding a somewhat level spot with some shade and room to setup the hammocks. Most sites are dirt and very unlevel. Our neighbors told us that the campground put some gravel on our site the morning we arrived after the last customer had difficultly leaving with so much mud after a rainstorm.

Camped at lynchburg as a first TT campground on our road of full time RVing. Driving to the preserve was good, they are located away from the town's most times.
Check in was quick and with a map we drove around with some guidance from the ranger as to a place to start the search for spot. As we drove around the C loop there were quite a few annual folks in what seemed to be the better spots.
Some of the sites and roads were eroded from rain washing down the hills in the park. C loop was quite hilly with some good size gullies to go through,, not impassable but good way to find stuff on the floor of your unit kinda stuff.
After driving around pulling a 30 ft, loaded to the gills Airstream we decided on site C-1.. just off the lake and close to the entrance which created a bit more dust on the truck before the rain that day.
Site was equipped with Sewer port, water spicket, and 30 amp elec connection that worked.
One of the major issues noticed when walking around was a lot of the sites need to have some additional gravel added to help level the site as you can see from the picture we had quite a stack of stuff used to get level.
This place has nice trails for bikes and walking around the lake, sandy beach area, lots of kids activities on site LP i believe and a friendly staff.
one issues was the gate code.. We were given a gate code when arriving on tue afternoon. We had ventured out get some supplies and came back to gate.. I got out to input gate code and it was not working.. tried a couple more times and no luck.. got on the microphone and called ranger and was informed the code had been changed. got new code and good to go..
Our t-moblie as good and especially with booster turned on and our ATT hot spot worked good as well.
Overall this is a nice campground, not super, not a crap hole either. We would stay here again.

This the other place we stay in VA to visit family. If you want cell reception and do not have a booster then you will definitely want to stay in C1-C8, C37-C60, or in the C90's... you'll have to check your phone; it's really weird how there is a line right through C loop that seems to have decent service. Not great, but good enough. Streaming might work for you, but sometimes the reception drops right off to minimum. All of C loop seems to be fine for voice on Verizon.
Loops A & B are dead zones. I mean dead like Orlando D loop. You might get voice or text service, but don't count on it.
The roads are often times not good, but they are gravel roads built on the side of a hill, so you'll get that. The park does try to keep them groomed, but you can only do so much with gravel on a hill.
The large pond/small lake is pretty and the pool looks really nice and is usually busy during the summer. They have a store with snacks and such. The rec hall is huge but usually empty. The laundry facilities are sub-par and we usually go to a local place in town. Like all TT parks I've visited, the staff are friendly and helpful. As always, if you don't like your spot, you can ask to move.
This is a get-away-from-it-all park with lots of seasonal people, so don't look for much entertainment outside of your site unless you're willing to spend some quality driving time. This is not a complaint, because there are times when we definitely want to be away from it all. The Food Lion is OK, so we' don't mind the occasional run into town for supplies.
If you NEED great cell service, keep going as this whole area needs better coverage.
Unless your neighbor is blaring their music, the place is quiet (except for the occasional cow in the nearby pasture), and at night get's pretty close to pitch black.

We pulled in late and called to let this 1000 Trails property know we were having repairs done on our TC and would be late. Policy is gate locks at 10. We arrived around 8ish and the lady at the gate was extremely kind and said they typically wait till 11 but even then, they let you park on tennis courts with power until morning. I’m certain this is to not disturb other guests.
As for the property... very old and not well maintained. The setting is lovely, much what we are used to in our SE TN camping environment, the sites themselves could use some love. There was power and water, a picnic table, and grill. A small fire pit (no ring) was also present. Bathroom and showers were also on site if you need that. There is a small lake (I’m guessing manmade) with a designated swimming area. The tennis courts are in disrepair as were most of the things we could visually see. The dump station had only one working space, no trash can to dispose of gloves etc after dumping, and honestly just not very clean.
This was the second of these 1000 Trails properties we have tried (free membership) and have a few more scheduled during a long cross country trip, but what I have seen would probably discourage me from ever renewing. That being said, we are used to dry camping not RV parks so this may be typical. If so, then the pretty setting may be enough for you.
We did have some cell service and spotty internet. Actually turned on the TV just to see if anything and there was quite good reception.
This place is a distance from main roads. Getting there from the Salem area took us around 1 1/2 hours in our TC. Roads were ok coming in. Leaving for the VA coast however was awful. Only way over there (for probably first 2 hours) were narrow country roads with an occasional divided highway (beautiful for the ride) but when 18 wheelers come flying through and you have to pull in your mirrors and hug the tiny shoulder....we’ll just bear that in mind.
Happy travels!

We visited this campground just after it opened for the season so it was very quiet during our visit. We very much enjoyed the heavily wooded sites and well maintained common areas. The campground offered some of the most private sites we've found in a commercial campground. We were in loop C which was very heavily wooded, and luckily, the place was nowhere near full when we visited. Other than on the weekend, we basically felt like we had the park to ourselves. But even if you're there during high season, the sites offer enough space and there are enough trees that you won't feel like you're on top of your neighbors.
Site quality here is very mixed. Our site was large, relatively level, and the utilities were well placed (Note: they only offer 30 amp service). However, many other sites were heavily sloped and/or much smaller. More problematic was the fact that numerous sites had electric boxes that were covered with plastic - indicating that they were out of order. We also noticed there was a lot of trash left in our grill. It seems like the folks who work there work hard to maintain the large common areas, but the campsites themselves are often neglected. Hopefully this was all just because we were there at the start of the season and not the sign of a larger problem.
Other than that one issue, we thought this campground was really nice. The staff was friendly, the location was decent, and the campsites were spacious. We would stay here again.
