Overall Rating

This is a very popular and busy rest area. We pulled in about 5:30pm and all the spots were filled. We parked along the perimeter - nose to tail with other semi-trucks. The area appeared to be designed for overflow parking and was not clearly marked as a no parking area. We woke up in the morning to a $200 parking ticket, other rigs also had tickets. A little online research (too little, too late) showed that the area is notorious among truckers for parking tickets. The nearby city of Cumby annexed the area, so they had jurisdiction at both the east and westbound rest areas and use them as a honey pot. The stories regarding the area are numerous and egregious. We were in no way obstructing traffic or posing a public safety risk, we were awake and the officer did not knock or attempt to make any contact. He just stealth ticket us and others at 8:55pm. Be extremely careful if you use this rest area!!!
