It is recommend that all vehicles greater than 35-40 ft. do not attempt to drive beyond site #4 Approx 2.6 miles past the town of Gothic as the road becomes very rough, narrows and requires high-clearance 4×4 vehicles

Gothic Road Designated Campsites are first-come, first-served with a 14-day maximum stay and two-vehicle limit per campsite. Camp only in sites that have a post with a campsite number, metal fire ring, and parking spot.

Overall Rating

Gothic road is no longer paved once you pass the ski town of Gothic, but it is a well maintained dirt base road with little washboard. It was evident that it had been recently graded prior to our visit. The road is busy during hiking season and can get rather dusty.

All of Gothic Road is designated dispersed. One must camp at a numbered site with a fire ring and parking area. This is for the protection of the amazing wildflowers that fill the valleys in late June.

Sites 4 to 8 are along the same side spur.

Site number 7 is large enough for a small rig, but the road spur was a bit rutted from those who couldn't wait for the full snow melt. The ground was dry and firm at our visit but damaged from those before. I removed 1 star from the review due to this damage.

The site's fire ring is tucked into the trees and is fully shaded.

There was an almost constant breeze from the pass at this site.

This site had zero Verizon or AT&T connection.
