“Beautiful River-Front Site!”

We really like this little campground. It's about 9 minutes from Asheville and 4 from Weaverville (which is a lovely little town -- check it out!) Sites 1-3 are pretty tiny -- good for short pull behinds, vintage Shastas, etc. Sites 4-11 are full sized / full hookups. The sites are right on the French Broad River. We've seen 15 geese float by, three resident ducks, and two Great Blue Herons. Some of the river-front sites have a little beachy area. Sites are cement slab, with fire rings, and picnic tables. We ended up with an older picnic table in poor condition but there were newer ones on other sites. There is one bath house with two stalls and one shower. The shower needs a good scrubbing. There are stationary RVs and cabins with FT residence on site. Really, the river is the thing! Either main road to the campground is narrow, twisty, and hilly. We have a 29' motorhome with a toad. We unhooked and had no trouble driving down into the site. There is a train that rolls through on the other side of the river but I didn't notice it except during the day. There is internet but it is very unreliable and Verison is iffy.

“Good.”

This is a stunning campsite, although I would be hesitant to take a trailer over 20' into the camp. We saw a Scamp and a couple of travel trailers. There are a few big trailers permanently camped. Both times we have stayed here, we used electric with our VW Westphalia in 2011 and 10/24/16 with our Sprinter Van. The bathroom is Ok. The whole place is funky but good. We could not get a campsite anywhere in Asheville on the spur of the moment. The night we went was a Monday & they said the were booked full every weekend. I usually pick up clay supplies right down the road, so this is very convenient.

This is in the mountains, so when you go in, the drive is right off a big bend. Then you go down a steep hill with a sharp left. John is a great trailer puller, he'd be more likely to pull our 19' Airstream Bambi into this campground, not our 24' AS Trade Wind.
