“Great Camping”

Reviewed Jul 23, 2018

Overall Rating

Took a weekend trip up to Bear lake in the CX-5 and wanted to stay away from the city itself. Found this place and it was amazing. It is in Bear Country so be sure to be smart with your food and leaving things out. Found a camp stop that was down a tiny hill so it was hard to see but found a gem. Nice area right next to a stream.

No nearby neighbors, it was a great camping spot.

The road is loose gravel so be careful if you're on two wheels.

“A River Runs Through It”

Reviewed Oct 11, 2017

Overall Rating

NAVIGATING: Franklin Basin Rd is located just off HWY 89 between Logan and Bear Lake. It is a dirt road that runs back with several turnouts along the way.

GETTING SITUATED: We stayed here on a holiday weekend and it was quite busy. There are many large turnouts along the road, big enough for multiple rigs. There are fire pits in most of the turnouts. We found a smaller turnout with a nice path to the river. It did take us a little bit to get our rig level.

THE SCENE: There are beautiful mountain views and the Logan River runs through the area. The road stirs up a lot of dust when cars drive through, so it's best to be as far away from the road as you can. There were a lot of off-road vehicles when we were here.

STUFF TO DO: You can get to Bear Lake in about 20 minutes drive. There's also services (and cell service!) over there. The drives around here are beautiful and you'll see lots of rock climbers along the way.

HIKE FACTOR: We only stayed one night, so not much hiking was had, but there seemed to be a wealth of outdoor activities.

GEEK FACTOR: We did not get service on any network here, which is the reason we only stayed one night.
