We passed several sites that would accommodate larger setups and even group camping. This site is very level and has an amazing view. The slightest hum from the freeway can be heard, but it is nothing to be bothered by. You could keep going and probably not hear anything, or stop at the first site on the water before the freeway. We have AT&T and have two bars of 5G as I sit and write this review streaming Netflix.

I pulled in after dark, so I wasn’t quite sure what my soundings really looked like. The smell in the air was incredible! I would but buy it and wear it off I could. I was blown away when I woke up to my view. You just can’t have a bad day when you wake up to this natural, mystical beauty. Mist rose from the water behind my site, with cypress trees coming out of the water.
I could hear faint highway noise from a distance as I fell asleep, but it wasn’t bad.

You aren’t that far from the highway so it is a little noisy but didn’t bother me sleeping. I arrived after sunset so it was pretty dark but the gravel road to get back there was well maintained and I found the site very easily. The morning was very tranquil with the fog rolling across the river. I would definitely camp there again.

Actual site was level and very spacious. It’s a long drive but the road is gravel and maintained. Cell service on Verizon was good enough for me to make calls and work during the week on my laptop. Definitely not a place to go if you’re a hiker or want to enjoy some local things. The town is super small and there’s nothing within a 45 minute drive. If you are just camping I would be aware that this park is an active hunting area so be vigilant during hunting season. Lots of hunters in and out with dogs. Also the absolute worst mosquitoes I’ve ever experienced. Literal swarms the entire week. We used tons of citronella candles and kept a fire going as much as possible. You can also hear lots of road noise as it’s close to a major highway. Probably would not stay again unless absolutely necessary.

This was an overnight stop for us on the way out West. It’s a small stint off of 40, but worth the ride. It’s a dirt/gravel road that is about 4 miles long that the campsites are off of. There was a good bit of bugs, but that’s to be expected when camping near water in the summer.
