Overall Rating

Quiet park with a few sites for those traveling thru the area. Clean restrooms and friendly host. Stayed in site #6, full hookups. They have a nice hiking trail and fishing available along the creek.
Be sure to visit Skylight BBQ in Ayden but go early in case they run out of food. Also the CSS Neuse ironclad ship museum is in Kinston.

Overall Rating

This little city campground has been leased by 3 individuals who are upgrading it. We had a nice overnight stay, and were allowed to use a site that didn't have sewer to it yet for a reduced price. No amenities, but plenty of room, a slow moving stream, and a big grassy area. I understand there's an extended trail along the Contentnea Creek.

Note: Some of the best barbecue in the country is right down the road in Ayden.
