What's it like in the summertime, particularly in August? Bad idea to camp anywhere along the Colorado river?

1 night only in site #4 with electric and water hookups. Someone must have canceled so we got it. We would have liked to have stayed a couple more nights but this swell State Park books solid by the "snowbirds "...We were just walk-ins with no reservations anywhere on our month long trip. Some sites have wonderful green trees, and some are very ugly asphalt parking lot style with no bush OR tree. It really varies here at Buckskin. Our site #4 had a couple trees and was on a little spur road. Green grass is around the popular dog park area and there is a long strip of white sand down along the rivers edge. Quite the tropical oasis in this harsh desert landscape...Wish it was easier to get a few nights here.

T-mobile was best by the cactus garden and tortoise garden.
Internet by the large pavilion.

There are four AZ State Parks with campgrounds along a 30-mile stretch from Lake Havasu City to Parker, AZ. Buckskin Mountain is the farthest south and definitely the quietest. We managed to get a site at the end of Ranger Trail, right on the river. The only complaint we had was that this particular site was very unlevel front to back. We ended up pulling our 35 foot class A in front first to avoid having our rear tires off the pavement, and we were still not able to get completely level. The camp host told us this is the most unlevel site in the park. Other than that, our stay was perfect. The bathrooms are clean and everything worked well. There is really good hiking with a trailhead right at the park entrance. Lake Havasu City is about a half hour drive and the London Bridge is there, along with plenty of restaurants and shopping. We stayed here in December and the weather was perfect for getting outdoors (highs in the 60s and 70s). This time of year the river traffic is light so it’s quiet (we were told that in the summer the river is very busy with lots of very loud boat traffic).

This is a nice campground along the Colorado below Parker Dam. The sites were nice although where we were (west side of "Ranger Way") the sites are not level. We were able to level but it required minus 4 inches street side and minus 7" hitch side. We had a water and electric site; I seem to recall there are a few sites with sewer.
There is a small store near the entrance. Lots of benches all around. A cactus garden that is worth walking through. Walking along the river is nice.
The park has WiFi but it doesn't cover the whole park. Where we were (site 10) we couldn't get it at all and had to walk over to near the store to get anything. No T-mobile service either although my phone said both Verizon and AT&T at least had a signal.

Another beautiful AZ state park. BONUS location right on the Colorado River. Well groomed hiking trails, friendly staff. Nice size sites but 100’s of sites which we like. We will be back for a longer stay next time.
Previous folks mentioned cell coverage being spotty. We had coverage on our site.

Verizon coverage was spotty even with a Weboost. Campground was well maintained. Hiking was nice. One nice bicycle route except for 4 miles (highway section was very rough). We could not count on Verizon coverage. Boat noise during the day but campground was quiet at night.

Another nicely located and well maintained Az State park on the river. Pretty setting, great access to the river and good trails to hike. TMobile was problematic in the park and wifi, while available, works best when you are in the sites closest to the river front bathrooms where the antenna is located.
