Had to call local US Forest Service office to confirm that it was open as it was not at all clear on the recreation.gov website. Just a couple of other campers, so we had it virtually to ourselves. No host on site when we were there, but trash and restrooms were being serviced. Stayed in Site 20, which seemed to have a double parking spot (could pull in straight or back in). Good for our 32 foot rig. No T-Mobile service. About 30 minutes from Devil's Tower monument.

In late September of 2020, the Two Tired Teachers visited Reuter Campground in the Black Hills National Forest just outside of Sundance, Wyoming, which is the exit for Devils Tower. The campground was about 30 miles from Devils Tower.
The video was made on September 27, and it was cold. The campground has 24 sites, some of which are tent only. The folks at the National Forest Ranger Station in Custer, South Dakota recommended Reuter Campground. It was $10 per night, and it was dry camping.
Reuter Campground was beautiful, and it did offer some services. There was trash pick up, and potable water is in the campground. The campground also has some horse, bike, hike, and snow skiing trails.
Sundance is a nice small town, and it is the town that gave the Sundance Kid his nickname. The only time the Sundance kid was arrested was in Sundance, Wyoming after he stole a horse.
We used the Reuter Campground as a home base. The main reason is so we could visit Devils Tower a couple of times, but we also had to return to Spearfish, South Dakota to buy a battery after one on the RV went out.
We did have the opportunity to see a Wyoming cattle drive. On our way back from Devils Tower, traffic was stopped for 10 - 15 minutes while a large herd of cattle was driven across the road.
It did snow hours after we shot this video. Did we mention it was September 27 and cold? We hope you will join us next week for a look at Devils Tower.

The trees are gorgeous and the air smells great, except for, you know, the occasional exhaust from somebody’s little loud generator. It’s convenient to Devil’s Tower and pretty handy this year since Belle Fourche campground is closed.

The camp host was so friendly!!
My kids loved exploring everything nature had to offer and it was a short drive up the mountain for the fire tower, awesome views!!
Another perk was that we were able to have a fire, many other places we stayed had fire bans. Some reviews said you could hear freeway noise, but our group decided that was probably wind. The campground is pretty far from the freeway.

Nice tables, fire pits and level sites. My 16’ trailer fit wonderfully. The camp host Laura was absolutely pleasant and gave me tips on what to see in the forest. She had maps and we chatted for a bit. My dog loved it too! Close to Devils Tower and only 14.00 per night/ no hookups but water available. 2.00 extra per night if you have a pet.
