Camp only in designated dispersed campsites and in developed campgrounds within Prescott Basin around the city of Prescott. See map for details: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3797787.pdf. Dispersed camping is allowed outside of Prescott Basin.

Stay limit is 14 days in a 30-day period in Prescott National Forest, except Prescott Basin which is limited to 7 days in designated dispersed campsites only.

Campfires allowed in provided fire rings only. During fire restrictions, campfires are not allowed in these designated dispersed camp sites.

Accessibility is not guaranteed, always scout ahead before driving down dirt roads. Learn more: Boondocking 101.

Overall Rating

Wolf Creek Road is well maintained to the Pine Camp but begins to degrade past the Group Campground. Please note there is limited turn around on this road. The road is its worst at the cattle guard which limits rig size. There is also a one lane bridge prior to the Lower campground that is very rutted.

Past the cattle guard the road alternates between sections of ruts and smooth driving with expansive views of the valley below. If the road is ever regraded the sites along its length will be accessible to those without high clearance.

Site eight and nine back up to the river. The site receives dappled shade.

“Beautiful area, horrific road”

Overall Rating

Just spent 3 nights at site 8/9. To the back (south end) of the site is the Hassayampa river. Sites 10/11 also have the river. The sites are pretty close to Wolf Creek road. Sites 7-1 are on the north side of the road and smaller. 12-8 are on the south side.
We camped tuesday-thursday nights so traffic on the road was minimal. The road in from the nearby community is bumpy, rutted with large rocks in some areas. Not sure if it was our best decision to take our 25’ class C motorhome on the road; definitely wouldn’t if there was a chance of rain.
