As I'm writing this review, 2 extremely loud trains have passed by (or you could say "through") our site. We were very excited when we pulled into our spot given the beauty of the landscape in this park and its proximity to the city, but our viewpoint was pretty quickly adjusted by the trains coming through. I was extremely surprised when I went back to the reviews to re-read and see if anyone had mentioned the trains - only 2 people had and they said "They weren't that bad". I guess if you grew up within 50 yards of train tracks, it isn't bad for you. But if you haven't, I have a hard time believing people aren't being woken up by the sound of the trains passing by - which literally sounds like an airplane taking off or landing. If you have pets, please take this into consideration, as the loud noise was really freaking out our 2 cats until several days in where they started to somewhat get used to it.

Central Dumping is $15 cash we pre paid $30 dumped when we got her and we for when we leave. We only had a 20 and a 10. All honers system.upper sites is a parking lot sorta deal and the lower sites is more secluded and camping vibes. Definitely stay in the lower sites it has more privacy. Park is Super close to the freeway and the outdoor mall/ shops. We have been full time RVing for a year and being here is a refreshing experience. BEWARE the train starts at 8:20 am and goes till 9-10 at night. Weekdays the train is super loud and will wake you up with the horn if your not an early riser. On weekends I found that they were more sparing with the horn. Park rangers pass through here 2-3 times a day and are friendly as well as helpful. We got our reg tags stolen just before coming here. And the ranger woke us up at 8:30 to check in and ask about the tags. Beware they will kick you out unless you can prove it's tagged. To be fully honest it's an amazing bang for your buck. If I could be somewhere like here full time I would it's peaceful and calm. There is the Simi valley tapo canyon park if you need less noise but bring a star link for wifi and the Kenny Grove in filmore which has no train noise and full hookups. If the train is too much.

We used the campground as a base camp for visiting Burbank and Downtown LA, about an hour’s drive. The campground is nothing special, we stayed in the lower campground. Lots of train noise during the day. The campsites are mostly mulch and ours was not very level. Site included water and electric, there is an on site dump site.

Camping spaces were tight and the upper campground is basically a parking lot. The lower lot has treed spaces and is nicer. We car camp and the restrooms were a bit far away. The host was really nice and helpful. Train tracks are close and heavily used so you have to enjoy that sound. I thought the price was high but everything seems to be expensive in Southern California.

Attempted to contact park to see if another site available. The only phone number is the reservation line. Unable to speak to a live person. Had to leave a message. By the time someone called back 1.75 hours later, we had the situation figured out. Had to enter the site backwards.
Not a staff person in sight. This is the first campground we've encountered with no staff available, no map, no nothing. Yes, there is a campground host - BEHIND A LOCKED GATE! Is that an indicator of how safe this place is??
Park is NOT big-rig friendly. Very narrow sites in upper campground. Low-lying limbs with plenty of fresh scars on trees from recent hits by RVs.
First night (week-night) was quiet. Minimal train noise, not very frequent. Then the locals in their tents moved in for the week-end and parked in the site next to us. Feared for the safety of our trailer when three kids batted rocks toward it while parents watched.
Campground host and ranger didn't seem to care that dogs were unleashed.
What a rip-off to charge paying campers $15 to dump.
With 65,00+ RVing miles under our belt over seven years of half-timing, I have to say this is the worst campground ever.
The only positive: good Verizon cell service.

In January there were very few campers. The site was paved, not level, with lots of space, picnic table, fire ring and a tree for shade. Staff was friendly. The only noise was the train, which didn't wake us up. I would stay here again if I needed a quiet spot in the Ventura area.

Just arrived and this seems to fit the bill. Easy to find, although the first drive on the right after following the sign is a private company. Oak Park is up hill further and on the left. Quiet, shady spots, with electric and water. Yes, they still charge $15 to dump, so I did it at my previous site.
There’s a host, restrooms, looks nice. I was lost trying to find the lower campground, but a host drove down and showed me where to go, removing the traffic cone from my spot so I could back in.
Since I just arrived, I haven't had any issues. Should anything arise, I’ll report.

The worst part of all is that even for $34/night, I still had to pay $15 to dump. Really, Ventura County Parks? $15 to dump even for paying campers?
I am very sad there isn't anything else better in the area.
