As Thousand Trails members, this park is included as one of our 'stay free' campgrounds and we return as often as possible when on the east coast. Those paying retail can expect to spend $60- $100 a night, depending on the sites type. They offer water views that are truly stunning. All sites are level, but close together so meet your neighbor! As a bonus, this campground is on the FREE SHUTTLE that runs all over the island.
This campground is nicely located just before the Trenton Bridge entrance to Mount Desert Island, home of Acadia National Park, numerous fishing villages and lots of beautiful hiking and biking. Its also home to trendy Bar Harbor, and visiting hordes from the many large ships that visit, so bring your deeper pockets as prices are high.
Seafood (lobstah!) is everywhere but ask around...many of the restaurants are over priced. Look for specials at the lobster pounds (we found Trenton Bridge to have the best prices this time around). Also, make sure to add Ruth & Whimpy's Lobster Restaurant to your list and go on the nights they offer special pricing.
There is much to do in this beautiful part of Downeast. Be sure to drive the ocean roads and check out the small villages; many have large, beautiful granite sculptures created by the Schoodic Sculpture Trail (Google it). Visit the "other" side of Acadia National Park, located on the Schoodic Peninsula; enter via Winter Harbor and don't be surprised if you see artists set up on the side of the road, capturing the view. If you are in the area, in August, there are many places you can go to pick wild blueberries or simply photograph those lovely beauties (expect blues, reds, oranges as the nights get cooler). Enjoy!

I stayed here as part of my Thousand Trails membership that’s why it was $0/night. I arrived during a pretty heavy rain and they still offered to help be my second set of eyes to back into my spot. Every staff member I talked with was great! They advertise free WiFi but at site 844 it was useless. Cell service was also not reliable, didn’t do a speed test it was so bad 90% of the time. Luckily I only needed to work a couple days while here so I drove up to the Ellsworth Dunkin Donuts ~15min away. The Island Explorer shuttle (free!) runs during the summer season only and takes you all over Mt. Desert Island, including all over Acadia. It’s the perfect location for exploring the area. The showers were individual stalls that locked and were close to site 844. However there’s no ventilation in the shower stall so it was pretty miserable. Sites are full hookup including cable. The power was a little finicky so make sure you have a surge protector that you plug directly into the box first. Plenty of room to walk the dogs without encroaching on other’s sites. They tout a dog area but it’s only fenced on one side with the other three sides heavily covered with vegetation but with a beagle, that isn’t sufficient. Sugar Bakery across the road has the BEST blueberry donuts and frozen blueberry lemonades. C-ray lobster on the island was my favorite lobster place. I would stay again but not if I have to work. I’d make sure reliable cell and internet aren’t an absolute must of you chose to stay here. The airport is next door and it can definitely be loud at times but with other noises you get used to it.

We stayed here because we are Thousand Trails members and could stay here free, plus the location is great for visiting Acadia National Park. The shuttle bus is a great way to get to the park so you don't have to worry about finding parking, but it takes a lot longer. Plus once you are in Acadia the buses are so crowded and it is hard to get around the park relying only on shuttle bus transportation that may or may not show up with a fully packed bus that you can't get on. We felt like we didn't really have a choice though because parking within the park is so limited, especially for a dually truck. Anyway, the campground has some beautiful views! We would have loved one of those sites that back up to the water, but I'm sure those are not included on the "free" Trails Collection sites. The staff is super friendly and helpful! Verizon and AT&T each had 2 bars, but T-Mobile had none.

An incredibly nice campground near Bar Harbor and Acadia. The grounds are very well kept and the sites are level. We had a couple of nights of very heavy rain and the site is maintained properly with the right amount of gravel preventing it from getting muddy. This was a big plus. The only downside, and it isn't a big one for us, you're near the airport and occasionally hear planes. Also, from our site, not far from the main office, you can hear traffic going by. This was surprising to us because we were pretty far from the main road. Thankfully, there isn't a lot of traffic and it didn't bother us.
We're not big TV watchers but like to test everything while we're on site. Cable TV worked very well. WiFi was good, but...... It seemed to drop on occasion and while we didn't have any trouble streaming movies, browsing the internet was difficult as the speeds were VERY slow. Using Speedtest.net I was seeing download speeds only as high as 5mbps and as low as 0.56mbps. There are multiple Wifi connections available and we were always connected to the strongest signal available.
Other than the WiFi issue, we definitely recommend this campground.
We also highly recommend the Sugar Bakery across the street. The blueberry pie is outstanding. Be aware, if you're late risers, like us, they close at 2:00.
Lastly, just as an FYI, as we're Thousand Trails members, the rate was great. However, be aware, TT members do not have access to their premium waterfront sites. They can be purchased at a 20% discount using the TT credits.

This campground sits just outside of Dessert Island at the Trenton Bridge. It is a fantastic location. The campground has amazing views of Cadillac Mountain and is right on Eastern Bay. The grounds at the Narrows are tiered so that the spots further away from the water are a little higher and even if it was packed most spots would have good views. Many pull through sites, some are back in and the roads are wide and comfortable. Propane was decently priced, laundry was good and the workers were friendly. Decent internet from campground. Spots were decently sized and level. We felt safe allowing the kids to go to the lake and ride bikes by themselves. It was very close to Acadia and Ellsworth, many lobster shacks and other dining available.
This was a pretty simple campground but it was exactly what we wanted. Being so busy at Acadia and around the area I think a campground with a lot of amenities would have been distracting. We spent some time at the campground but most of our time exploring. It is near a small airport and the planes can get a little loud at points but there are some very cool planes that fly overhead.

The location close to Acadia National Park is wonderful and the views of the water is spectacular to wake up to each morning.
Getting here was not so bad, driving through some small Maine towns. You have to drive this way to get to Bar Harbor island at all, so we did not think it was anything of a problem. Also, a bit surprised the spots were all so large (most places will stick as many spots in as possible and make the spots small). We got a nice pull thru spot and though we were up on the top area, we actually had the best views. The back in spots were also really spacious and some people would pull into the back in spots the opposite ways so they can have the view and block evening sun.
There were some amenities and of course the pool was closed late in the year, but we wish there was a playground for the kids. There was even a great location for it and with everything else they have there, that playground would have solidified it.
A small negative is this place is just at the end of the runway from a small airport for plane that do tours over Acadia National Park. So there were some small planes taking off all throughout the day. They get quiet at night of course, but that is a bit annoying.
So many other reviews do talk about this being expensive and that is true, the spots are quite a lot, but we joined Thousand Trails and added the Trails Collection and were able to stay here free. Feel free to follow us on Facebook to find out more about our adventures.

The staff are really kind and helpful, and the amenities were adequate. But you simply can't beat the location. We didn't want to stay on the crowded island, and this is so close, it didn't bother us we had to drive a few miles to get to Bar Harbor or the Park.
The Explorer buses are awesome. They're free and we could take our dogs on them! We used them to get to Bar Harbor and the park if we didn't want the hassle of driving/parking.
The campground is pretty well maintained, but there are few trees, so a lot of the spots are in a long line of sites with little privacy. We didn't have many neighbors and backed on to trees, so we felt a little more out of the way.
The airport is right next door, so you will hear noise. But we have lived near a Navy base for 8 years, so are used to jet noise.
TMobile phone service is non existent. Verizon boosted is fine. Camp Wifi was actually pretty good - there are a bunch of access points, but not a huge amount of bandwidth though, so at around 4pm - 10pm , it is pretty useless.
We loved being in Maine, and would go back again in a heartbeat.

Our site was one of the best in the campground, hence the price. Very private, awesome view of the water and Cadilac Mountain in the distance. Very clean facilities, friendly and helpful staff, large sites but the cheaper sites were not impressive.
Noise was a slight issue due to the campground's close proximity to the Bar Harbor airport.

The waterfront spots are pretty spectacular, and the ultra premium ones do offer vegetation between them.
We splurged and got one of the non-premium waterfront spots - which are VERY tightly packed in. But, we got an end spot and pulled in forward for an amazing panoramic view and relative privacy.
One ding during our stay was the park was doing some sort of maintenance that required them running a loud generator outside our site most of the day. Pretty annoying for the asking price of the sites, but we understand maintenance has to be done (power wasn't out, why couldn't they use nearby power pedestals?).
The location however is quite central - easy access to Bar Harbor and Acadia, as well as Ellsworth for shopping & stocking.
Overall, not a bad place at all to explore the area from.

After camping closer to Freeport, we moved to Narrows Too to be more convenient to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We stayed here in October 2015, towards the end of camping season for this location, so pickings were slim.
The location of this campground is very convenient - about 10-15 mintues to the Hannaford's grocery store, Walmart, etc. Another 15 minutes to Acadia National Park and 20-25 to downtown Bar Harbor.
Great laundry facility - clean, lots of machines. Clean toilets + showers as well. Our site had full hookups - 30 amp, water, cable and dump.
Campground is well manicured and clean. Sites are not private and most are small and close to one another. You will pay a premium for a waterfront site, but it may be worth it as a lot of them had brush, bushes and trees in between the sites. Our site was pretty good. Despite not having separation between us and the site next to us, we were on the corner and had at least one side of privacy. The last two mornings had the spot across the way from us empty, so we woke up to waterside views.
Water access was nearby and even though we don't have kayaks with us - yet - we walked down to the shoreline to hang out by the water as well as stargaze at night.
We'd probably return, mostly for convenience and not so much the actual campground experience.
