Looked like it would have been an amazing spot, however the road to access the area was closed without any signage explaining why.

We stay on the west coast and would have to say this is the best place we have stayed boondocking! Go slow coming in as you have to navigate around larger rocks sticking out of the ground, other than that I would say its pretty amazing!

We loved staying here. We tried a couple other small fee campgrounds nearby and all were packed, but we are glad we didn’t pay and found this place. Free, beautiful camping with mountain peak views all around. We loved our spot at the bottom of a big hill. Walk up and find a huge field before it leads to a denser forest. There’s a small stream running nearby and it’s so peaceful. Wide open clear skies every night for star-gazing. This is the perfect place to do some dispersed camping if visiting Telluride which is only about 20 mins. to town. Don’t expect to have any service at all and use your phone before you get to camp. So worth it!

We later walked it and it is fine.

Easy access right off the main road outside of Telluride. About 20 mins from town. Quiet and toilets dumpster across the main road. A bit bumpy to get into the camping area but completely manageable for any car.

Very scenic camping spot for RV’s. We took our 23’ trailer here with no problem. Can get crowded on the weekends. There is a garbage dumpster at the rest area across the street from the campground. The nearest water and dump station is by Telluride, like 10 miles away. They charge a $15 fee during business hours. Or it’s free if they’re closed. They didn’t really seem to care about me paying the fee when I went there. This campground is the most scenic one I’ve been to so far.

I was coming from Telluride so I had to make a U turn and come into it from the Rico side, making it less steep. The road was full of pot holes so take it slow. Don’t show up on the weekend because it will be packed. We got there on a Monday and had several site to pick from. ZERO CELL SIGNAL! Have to go into Telluride for a signal with Verizon.

Nice views and lots of level ground for any type of campers. A little noisier and crowded on the weekend but plenty of room to spread out. Lots of hiking and fishing nearby.
