We stayed only one night in early February 2018 at Kofa View about 10 miles south of Quartzsite, Arizona and just off Highway 95. We had planned to stay 10-14 days but had problems with our brand new house batteries that had been installed that morning prior to our leaving Yuma. We drove into Quartzsite to Discount Solar to start a highly irritating process of delays of getting a new battery replacement. Rather than drive back south to Kofa View, we opted for something closer and thus chose Hi Jolly, just north of town.
Our one night at Kofa View was DIVINE because so few other RVers. Our nearest neighbor was a mile away!!! I felt like I could breathe and walk outside undisturbed. Coyotes could be heard but other than that it was quiet and peaceful!
We had good cell service.
There was no host so we just drove in on the rocky dirt road for about three miles and found a spot away from the main dirt road.
We will definitely stay there again, but for a longer period of time.

There were RVs sprinkled all over the place outside/near Quartzsite...but we were the ONLY rig here! Awesome for Class A's. No issue getting in or out.

Wish we could have stayed longer; great night skies! Only problem is the dust from the road when people drive past (maybe 2 or 3 times a day). Just park further away from the road if the dust is a problem.
PRO TIP: Mind your water outside; seems to attract bees in this area. We had a small swarm of the come after our camper when our kids spilled a bunch of water nearby.
For some added fun, if you put the GPS coordinates in Google Maps on the iPhone, it can’t process the MS&T road name and says something else instead ;)

So quiet, secluded, and perfect! We got in with our 40-foot class A easily. We'll definitely be back. Great hiking in the area, too!

This happens to be the first place I ever boondocked TOTALLY alone. It was a little scary at first, but not because I was scared of people- I was scared of the 'boogey man'. I got over it the first night. No, I didn't hang out outside a lot, though, I will tell you that!
This is a good place to get away from the congestion of Q, and if you have a large group gathering you want to plan, this is a great place to do it.
Kofa is up the road so you can explore up in the mountains there.
There are deer around. They have really big ears- Mule deer?
The road was well maintained, so one could get down it pretty quickly.
You can make trips into Quartzsite for essentials, but don't expect to find a Target or a Wal Mart. Or even a medium-sized grocery store. There's a little one though. Again, you can usually get most of the common goods that you will need to survive.
This place is definitely not in my TOP boondocking list just because I prefer the mountains and lakes and trees. This is the desert. It's no Sedona or Zion. But it has its beauty.

Just 12 miles south of I-10 on AZ-95, there are plenty of boondocking spots available along the MST&T Road that heads east into Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. The first stretch of the well maintained road (just graded prior to my arrival) is BLM land with many pullouts you can setup camp. If you continue east you will eventually enter Kofa and have to camp by their rules.
I stayed for a couple of weeks with a group of ~12 RVs. Plenty of room for everyone. Some chose to cluster. I chose to stay a bit to the outside. The GPS coordinates indicate the large area we stayed, with additional space across the road.
You can continue east on MST&T Road into Kofa for hiking and off-roading opportunities. Head into Quartzsite for water and to dump your tanks.
This location not only offers excellent cell service (take notice of WatsonsWander’s note of cell tower congestion during the height of the “Q” snowbird season) while offering peace and quiet. Literally there is no noise here. We stayed 2.5 miles due east of AZ-95 so road noise was nonexistent. Occasional vehicle traffic coming/going into Kofa to off-road was all we dealt with. Pure bliss!
If you have the urge to visit Quartzsite during the winter months, when thousands of RVs converge there, consider this to be a peaceful, uncrowded alternative to the Long Term Visitor Areas (LTVAs) just south of “Q”.

Lots of camping spots in this area. Many are suitable for any size RV. These coordinates point to a large, flat area with room for multiple RVs on either side of the road. While this particular spot is on BLM land, 1.5 miles down the road you enter the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge where regulations require you park no less than 100 feet from the road. Lots of good spots all along the road, although once you get into Kofa there are more cactus - in particular those mean cholla cactus - so if you have pets, the BLM portion might be safer.
This area has tons of opportunities for hiking, off roading, and sunset viewing. It was very quiet, and with the exception of the occasional group of off road vehicle heading into Kofa we saw little traffic.
There are no nearby facilities, but Quartzsite is only 20 minutes north and has a designated dump and water fill station called the Pit Stop. There you will also find a nice laundromat and a small grocery store.
A note about cell service - during the big RV show in Quartzsite the masses of people cause a overload of the cell towers which significantly slows down the data connection. So although we got a strong signal, it was slow at times. By the end of our stay when the show was over the speed had improved.
