Compared to other ACOE campgrounds, this one is a bit lacking. It seems to be a bit older, judging by the construction and design of the bathroom/shower facility. Man, I really wanted to like this place more… I’ll begin with the positives: The sites are gravel and mine was very level. There are nice grassy areas between the sites and the electric service worked fine. Not all sites had picnic tables (mine didn't). We stayed here one night while traveling. It is a nice camp spot for the night. We did the 2.5 mile hike as well. Spot 44 was shaded with electric. Be careful of ticks.

Note that I camped on the Buffalo Grove Loop. Buffalo Grove and Elk Loops seem to be the newer sites and are very nice. The sites are paved and level, with great views of the mountains and desert landscape, along with Cochiti Lake.
