It’s clear that the people who manage Cumberland Mountain State Park campground take a lot of pride in presenting the campground as a friendly and usable space. Geographically speaking, the campground is built on the side of a mountain (it’s in the name!) - so the terrain is quite hilly. The terrain definitely adds to the beauty of the place, but, yes, there are lots of unlevel places. Campground design-wise, an excellent job was done creating campsites amongst the hilly terrain. The sites are actually impressively level when considering what they had to work with. With our class B in site 116, we used 2 blocks to get almost level. The bathhouse is older but impeccably clean. Some nice trails with trailhead at the campground. Quite busy/noisy on the weekend. We will return.

We have a 36’ fifth wheel and have not had any trouble finding a good spot. Our two favorite spots are 116 and 84, both very private with a nice view. Shower house is typical of a state park, but always clean. You will run into a lot of other full timers at this park during the week.
Ohh and crossville has a Buc-ees right off 40 as well, need I say more?

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid-late July of 2023. Price is an average over our stay. Check in was decent. Finding the check in and finding our site and knowing which way to go was a bit wonky / confusing. Sometimes it's best to park and walk ahead! We had a bit of a slope backing up into our site which our older Dodge doesn't always like, but we got in fine. We had one of the main CG roads in front of us, which people seemed to drive too fast along. Gave us something to watch, but tormented our dog a bit. There are several loops and some of the sites are right next to or on top of each other. Sites 29-35 seemed to be more empty than other loops. Camping area #1 was pretty packed close to each other. Some of area #5 was nice, but wow steep hill coming out of there! 4 had some nice sites. Sites 40-62 were pretty close to each other.
The pros: beautiful - lake is pretty and the bridge is gorgeous. I loved the walk around the lake.
The cons: this is not the fault of the CG, but the people behind us left their 3 dogs in their RV ALL day, then when taking them for a walk later did not pick up after their dog. Ugh. I picked it up. And people driving faster than they should have.
Lots of Canadian geese by the lake so watch for goose poop and if you have a crazy Lab, watch for them!

The campground is outdated and like so many older campgrounds it is difficult to park longer RVs in. The best site is 116 which is easy to park in and has a lot of privacy. Other sites are very close. The bathhouse was adequate. There are modern buildings and a marina that are very nice. Attended a program sponsored by the park with a Native American woman who discussed artifacts that she found. There is a restaurant with an all you can eat buffet but the food was not good.

Another really beautiful park. Bridge and aviary cool. Lots of walking paths including the park. Shower and baths good but a bit older. Fairly well maintained. Happy we stayed here. Helpful staff as well.

We camped here for one night in late November for one night. We came in without reservations and having arrived early, were able to register at the office before proceeding to our site. The first site that we were given was a somewhat difficult site to get into and the office was gracious enough to change our site to one that was an easy back in. It offered water and electric, but no sewer. What looked like sewer connection was the water shut off valve. There were some sites, but not many that offered sewer. Our site, 40, had some privacy on the driver’s side. The sites were generally close together, but at this time of year with with few campers, this was not an issue. There were site options available that had more privacy given where they were situated, but for us it did not matter. We had a nice fire here courtesy of another campers leftover wood. The site had a fire pit with grill, a BBQ grill, lantern pole and picnic table. We checked out the bathrooms, which were the nicest of any of the TN state parks we visited. They appeared to be more recently remodeled. The cell service was weak, but we were able to use at times. We have been to this park in the past to golf and to visit Homestead buildings. I would definitely return when it is better golfing weather. And to check out the restaurant.

The campground is nice and quiet and area 4 seems to have the most private and shaded spots. Warning: avoid sites in the 90s (and especially site 99!) if you have a larger rig. These sites are sloped and/or slanted. We were in site 99 and got the rig leveled (a 22' trailer) but we had to use 3 leveling blocks on one side and put the toungue jack almost all the way down.
The park has some great hiking trails, and the Byrd trail is especially nice. It starts near the camp store and winds its way along a beautiful clear creek. The park has a golf course and but the greens were awful. Lots of dead and bare spots on them. The lake is nice for a kayak paddling but we didn't have any luck fishing. I know the TN Wildlife Resources Association stocks trout there in the winter so maybe the fishing is better then.

The park is well kept and there's a nice aviary on premises where they keep a few rescue raptors that are permanently injured. The campsites are paved but site 11 is very unlevel in any direction. Did not use the restrooms so can't comment. Dump station is large and convenient with two positions available.
I had a good T-Mobile connection but mostly didn't need it as the park wi-fi works extremely well at our campsite. Verizon connection on the other phone was intermittent and not reliable for data and bad for voice.
I did get a decent AT&T data connection through OnStar on my truck, which was welcome although as mentioned the wi-fi here is great.
