Yukwah campground was built in the 1930's by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It's a small campground with only 13 sites, buried in a 2nd growth Douglas Firm and Hemlock forest. Many sites border the Santiam river. Although I visited with a small travel trailer, the majority of visitors during my stay were tent campers. There is no hook-ups, although there is hand-pump potable water. If you're visiting in a TT or RV, come with a full battery because there are very limited to no opportunities for solar. Additionally, this is not the kind of campground that you want to run your generator for hours at a time.

When making reservations pay close attention to the site width noted. There are several sites that will not accommodate an RV or TT of any length. My site being 13' was a close fit, particularly because the entrance to many sites were not designed to accommodate both the length of the TT combined with the length of full-size p/u. Getting into my site required quite a bit of back-and-forth, however other sites are much more accommodating.

Yukwah is an ADA accessible, "no barriers" fishing site. There is a well maintained ADA accessible dirt path, leading to a large platform sitting over a nice size fishing hole on the Santiam river. From there, you can fish, relax or just enjoy the river. Further down the path you can access other fishing holes, and depending on the time of year a nice rocky beach.

Yukwah sits off Highway 20, and you can hear traffic from the highway. That said, the traffic really dies off in the evening and didn't seem to get started again until around 7:30 am.

I'll be back to Yukwah, it's a nice get-away from the city and the river looks really inviting for a summer dip.
