Walking near the woods, our dogs came back full, (and by full, I mean like 40) ticks. It is great for a quiet stop, but there is not much around to do. We drove to Apalachacola for a day and had lunch at Up the Creek Raw Bar. Apalachacola seems to be the nearest town for groceries, etc.. The campsite has water hookups and garbage bins are situated throughout the campground.

To do the necessary repairs to the water system, the campground would have to remain closed until the required testing shows it is safe to use. Portable toilets and handwashing stations are available with regular servicing, but the bathhouses and spigots will remain closed/off until after hunting season when we can assess the entire system and get it back online."

First, a quick clarification. I reserved my site online and the site fee was $10, plus a $10 reservation fee. There was no place to pay at the camp, and I didn’t see a ranger or host while I was there. Perhaps the walkup rate without reservation would have been just the $10, couldn’t tell ya. Annnyway, this was absolutely one of my most peaceful and quiet camps I have ever stayed at. There were quite a few of the sites occupied....and you could hear quiet conversations and movings about, but it seemed as if the whole camp was at a cathedral-level of hush and awe. Gorgeous.
The showers are push-ons and you do have to keep pushing them, but they get hot and everything seems to be kept clean and stocked and there are water hookups at every site (much more delicious and clean water than where I last filled up..)
I walked along the trail a little ways and it was very well marked (started right next to my campsite) but did not do either of the hikes the whole way.
*note* As other reviewers have noted, the cell service was unreliable. I varied between 3 bars with LTE to no service the whole time I was there.

On our way to Apalachicola we pulled off 65 and into the two mile stretch of sand road to Wright Lake Campground. Our mission was to check it out while in the area with the idea of avoiding wasting an future hour's drive to camp somewhere we did not like. Upon first sight we knew the place was great. There were several RV's and campsites already set up with fishermen in waders hanging around, and groups of tow or three standing around chatting. It seemed like a very good quality of outdoors people. The campground was clean and the sites well spaced out. We noticed there were only water hookups at each campsite, but a dump station was at the entrance to the park. Fees to camp were very inexpensive, and if you have a geezer pass to the National Park system everything is half off. The only problem we foresaw was the lack of any AT&T cell service. That might be a deal breaker for us, unless we needed to really escape from any and all hubbub.

We will definitely come here again just for the quietness. Cell service is not good but the town down the street has wi-fi you can hook up too. Bathrooms clean. Spaces only provide water. So be ready to bookdock loved it

The road back to the campground was packed sand and we had no trouble pulling our camper trailer with 2 wheel drive truck.
The price here reflects our senior pass half price discount. They had a sign posting proposed price increases.
Other campers here while we were here were all quiet and respectful.

Large sites with no underbrush so privacy is limited. Shaded, large red pine forest in the single 18 site loop. Sites are gravel, back-in, and mostly level. Showers and flush toilets are available and water is provided at each site. A dump station is also available at the entrance.
