Once in, the park is pretty, a big open field for the most part. Showers, bathrooms are amenities. Basket ball court, playground

Getting into the main part of the campground is really questionable. It's a one lane road with very few small pullouts. It's a rather long drive on rough pavement with the river on one side and sometimes rock or ditch on the other. You just hope no one is coming the other way at the same time. With a trailer in tow, it would be impossible to get out of the way and hell to back up on this drive. A nice hike across the road to waterfalls and a pond higher up. We also made the mistake of coming from Port Jervis. We hit a detour and then a locked gate on the lower Old Mine Road. Long detour for that one. Then had to come in from Route 80. The light for the one lane section was not working. Another scary section with no pullouts. Luckily no one was coming down at the same time. The light was working again the next day.

Word of caution the road in is awful as everyone has said. Definitely don’t attempt it in the dark.
Carpenter bees were all around the bathhouse and dish washing station. We didn’t use the showers/bathrooms so I don’t know about them. Carry in carry out-no trash receptacles.
I would return and hopefully the road in will be better by then.
No hookups

The Old Mine road into the State Forest is narrow, with a one lane section controlled by a light. I do have to say I wonder how long it takes to travel the 3 miles to the Campground in the summer.
The Campground closes end of December and it's the 19th, today so we are the only people here. Once again it's a very narrow road to access the sites and it's rough, arriving late it looked like we were driving on a foot path! So NOT for the faint hearted or long/wide rigs (we're a truckcamper)
We have site 36 right on the river with trees for shade, but we're still getting some solar (it's twinned with site 37, so you'll have close neighbors in season), but no other sites close.
- No Hook ups and we didn't check out any facilities as I think they are all closed so no comments on bathrooms.
- Picnic Table and Firepit in good repair
- Looking at other reviews, yes they are very up front that you're in bear territory so I guess it all depends on everyone following the rules. I have a friend that hikes Mt. Tammany and frequently sees bears.
- this is a State Forest site, so we were expecting it to be a bit more wild and basic. it's def. living up to that, which is what we wanted.
- both of us had cell service and I'm hot spotting to write this.

Stayed here 2 nights in November, in an eagle cap truck camper. Minimal amenities, but very nice area. The best part is it’s cheap for this area. The thieves around here want $85/night for a campsite w hook up. 85 bucks?? Give me a break! I’ll Boondock for $25. Place is 20 mins to Bushkill Falls. Would stay here again.

It was late October so they were pretty empty and the fall colors were magnificent. The staff were friendly and helpful. They are open from April 1 to Dec 31. On the downside: lots of potholes on the way in. Take it slowly which shouldn’t be hard since the speed limit is 15.

Some of the holes were a foot deep! They put cones into some of the holes, but most you had to look out for. Don't come at night or you'll really damage your rig. I've attached a couple of pictures that show some of the potholes.
The campsite is a giant grass field which is a bit strange, but the sites are not too close together. Some very challenging hikes nearby. The mosquitoes were bad in June.

Now to the bad part: indeed the road in is a little rough with a one lane road for a portion controlled by a light. It was getting dark as we got in so it was just slow going. The campground road is also rough in spots. Just go slow. Some of the sites are not for RVs and it wasn't clearly marked as far as I could tell - you just had to roam and discover if u came in late like we did. On the way out, we got a flat. Dunno what caused it still. Rough road. When we got going again, we were so slow and cautious that we took too much time on the one lane road and cars started coming straight at us, including a boat trailer. But they backed up and we wriggled out of it (luckily). So, well worth it if you get there in daylight, know they have a spot that will fit you and have all you need to change a flat. We recommend Pocono Tire in Stroudsburg for any follow up needed.

This campground, while gorgeous, faces severe problems with bears. Apparently, many of the people who camp here don't understand the documents they sign indicating that they will abide the no-food-out policies. We watched bears feed on goodies they scored on picnic tables and then watched rangers come in and try to discourage the bears from the campsites of campers who had done no wrong. In addition, the carry-in/carry-out policy for trash isn't working: many people simply leave their trash under the slop sink at the bath house.
Even if you like being around the bears and have good habits yourself, the road into the campground needs serious attention. The potholes go beyond holes; some resemble craters. In addition, even finding the campground is a challenge. The signs that mark it are hard to see, which makes for a dangerous situation given that you're driving your rig off and then onto an interstate where sight lines are difficult.
If you want to see the Delaware Water Gap, might be better to check out the national park camping areas. Bears probably roam there as well but maybe the roads are better.
