Easy to drive in and around and plenty of space in-between the sites for a little added privacy. Lots of places to take a picnic and plenty of parking for boaters. Dog friendly, hot showers and well shaded. There is limited WiFi at 5 dollars a day and cell phone is limited to emergency calls.

Nothing private here sites are close, but all paved, picnic tables, fire rings level! Dump station, gray dumps around camp. Great view of the river and sunsets over the mountains. Better place for people with boats or other watercraft. Do not enforce leash rule!

We were immediately greeted upon arrival by one of the friendliest camp hosts we've come across. We ran into him and his wife in different places in the park during our stay and they were always friendly and helpful.
Our site was clean and included a couple young trees that provided a little shade throughout the day. Our site had a concrete picnic table and a standard metal fire ring. Once nice aspect of the park is that the rows of sites are terraced so that the sites closest to the reservoir have a clear view toward the water. The park was fairly full while we were there, but I think the terraced layout of the park made it seem less so.
Activities are a bit sparse at the park. Most of the other campers that were there seemed to spend the majority of their time boating. On Saturday morning we awoke before sunrise to the opening ceremonies of a bass fishing tournament that was announced via loudspeaker from the reservoir. I imagine most of our neighbors were likely participating in the tournament, but my plan for the morning had been to sleep in. During the day we visited a small park area at the south end of Woodhead that had access to a dock and included picnic tables and lots of shady trees. It was a great place to let the dog run and play in the water away from the busy boat ramp.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but next time we will be sure to invite friends along who own a boat.

The previous reviewer was very correct! It's really hot there in August! 107 the day we left. This is a picturesque campground with asphalt drives and sites that retain the heat in summer so we had to enjoy the beautiful views from the inside of our RV. The grounds around the clean bathrooms are well groomed but the campsites were a bit overgrown with brush that was not too attractive. There was a bit of litter in our campsite too. For summer camping we would suggest Copperfield with it's shady albeit crowded sites. One big negative for us was there is no Verizon phone service there.

We were looking for a good halfway point between McCall, Idaho and Joseph, OR and decided to aim for one of the Idaho Power campgrounds on the Snake River. Originally we were headed for Copperfield Park, but once we arrived there, we didn’t like the fact that the spots are very close together, giving you a commercial RV park feeling. So, instead, we backtracked 15 or so miles to Woodhead Park, which we had checked out on the way to Copperfield Park.
Why Woodhead Park? Because it gives you great views of the Snake River (none at Copperfield) and there is much better spacing between sites. More similar to a state park (assuming said state park has good spacing! ;) ) and more along the lines of what we like.
There isn’t much in the way of shade at Woodhead Park, so be thankful that there are electrical hookups. It gets toasty in these parts!
There are four main loops in the campground. Two of which have sites pretty close to the water. Of course these are the sites to stay away from during the busy season. Not only are they crowded, but people like to bring their toys and friends, so there are vehicles parked everywhere, to the point of making it difficult to drive through.
Do yourself a favor and choose one of the upper loops with a river view, which is exactly what we did. While the riverside loops were jam packed, we enjoyed peace and quiet in an upper loop. Our site (D11) backed up to the river, giving us a great view, minus the “lovely” people.
There are a couple of trails in the campground, which all converge on the interpretive overlook. Perched on the highest point with a great 360 degree view, the outlook has informative signs telling you about the region. And a bench to sit. Cause you climb up a hill. And it can be damn hot! ;)
There is absolutely zero cell service (both AT&T and Verizon), so don’t expect to stay in touch while staying here.
