Quiet, semi wooded sites are great for small campers and tents. Pet friendly.

As other reviewers have indicated, there are few sites suitable for rigs over 25'. And if you are not completely confident in your maneuvering skills, getting in and out of some sites could be challenging. Sites are somewhat close together, but not nearly as packed in as typical for-profit campgrounds. There is just enough space for some privacy.
Noise level on weekend days is higher than weekdays due to the fact that there is a beautiful reservoir for day use.
If you can, get a site on the water. They are the best ones in the park. So lovely to be lulled to sleep by the sound of the bullfrogs. :)

I drove in on a Thursday and got a site for one night. Site was reasonably level with lots of privacy. Lake a short walk away. Bathroom was clean and modern. Man at checkin was very nice and helpful. I wish I could have stayed longer but hadn't made reservations.

Generally this is a nice park with a few limitations. First, we pull a 28 ft trailer & most of the sights would not accommodate us. We managed OK with site 24 but it took a "wrong way" approach. First, we pull a 28 ft trailer & most of the sights would not accommodate us. We managed OK with site 24 but it took a "wrong way" approach. If you have a trailer 25 ft. or less you should be OK but pay careful attention to the site length. Also, the road is very narrow & twisty so backing in might be a issue on some sites unless you are short enough.
Second, because we brought our 6 yr old granddaughter we were attracted to the "playground" amenity.
But, there is no playground except for a large open field with a basketball net in the corner.
Also, be prepared to pay for the showers. 50 cents for 5 min; 75 cents for 7 1/2 min, etc (quarters only).
The beach front is excellent with a sandy bottom and a variety of boats for rent. Plenty of hiking trails in the area. Drinking water is available as you enter the park next to the pump out station.

Nice campground - typical VT State Park. We like Fort Dummer better. It had nicer walking trails and sites more spread out Nd private.

I have stayed here multiple times. Try and get a site by the water. They also have around 4 cabins which are pretty new and clean. Shower and bathroom facilities are well kept as well. There is a nice hike around the lake and a boat launch where you can rent canoes and kayaks.

Stayed here summer 2016 in Sept. so was empty and quiet. Great staff. Noise rating is low because someone ran generator 24/7.
