We were on a two-day run to the Virginia mountains from Lake Erie in NY. We contacted the park about a site in which we could stay hooked up. They told us that site 127 was perfect and 63 feet long. We are 56' bike rack to nose of truck so we said great.
Access from I-77 was easy and the roads were good.
The campground is on a pretty lake and close to the interstate.
There were pit toilets in our area. Wouldn't use them on a bet.
The big problem was the site. It was a blind back-in. The site itself was shaped like a flattened fish hook with a deep dip in the front quarter. It was impossible to back in with bike rack on. Since we were staying hooked up we drove in frontwards. The site dropped about 6 feet along the length. It would have been impossible to level up even if we were unhooked. We were not even close to level hooked up. The site next to us (126) was rented to a couple with a Momentum toy hauler. They had to park across the site to get into it.
Many of the smaller sites were more level. If we were in a small Class C, Class B or TT we could have found a level site. Big rigs avoid this campground.
The site is quiet with faint noise from I-77.
We had weak two bars of Verizon.

Campground was pretty empty, no problem changing sites. It rained all day, so we didn't get to the lake, just walked the dogs around the campground. The sites are adequately spaced. The pit toilets were clean, very basic. There was definitely noise from the interstate, but we stopped here because it was convenient.

Overall, I found the campground to be extremely mediocre. It wasn’t packed, and there was plenty of room between sites, which was a plus. Each site also had a fire ring (some in better condition than others) and a picnic table. However, the pit toilets were disgusting, there was interstate noise, and I happened to be near enough to a group of individuals who drank, blasted music, and yelled until 2 am. Further, the lakeside trail is not maintained and there aren’t any trail markers, so getting to the lake overlook is kind of based on your best guess when coming to a fork. (The map shows it as a single, simple, one-direction trail.)
I would consider staying again, but only because of accessibility and the state park’s customer service upon requesting a different site.

The toilets are pit toilets yes, but we stayed over Labor Day 2020 weekend and they were not bad - they were sanitized daily.
Decent privacy for site 56, but the trail to the water skirts the site, so we had lots of people walk by, but most people were great walking by, no real issues.
Showers were adequate water pressure, plenty of hot water. However the changing area is one large communal changing space, so not private
Verizon service was 4 bars, but at night when everyone was sucking up the cell service, we lost connection.
Definitely close to 77 so we heard cars all night long but it was far enough into the distance it wasn’t too bad.

The fire pit/ ring was in decent shape but a misplaced piece of firewood would roll down the hill into the neighbors’ campsite.
The picnic table was adequate however has seen several seasons.
The campground is small and yeah I’d say cozy. The neighbors were polite. The nights were pretty quiet. Overall not a bad campground but not exactly a destination resort. One dumping station. Fresh drinking water can be obtained from the dumping area as well. Overall pretty clean however probably could stand to be updated.
The beach was small and in pretty good shape.
I’ve camped here many times throughout the years. Usually once or twice a year. Not really a place that lends itself to larger rigs however there are a few spots that one can fit. Oh yeah, some of the loops at the end of the roads are tricky to maneuver around with a larger rig.

Wolf Run St Pk has very shallow open unlevel sites, no privacy. Sites were clean. Cherry Trail was nice. Other trails were overgrown and ended abruptly, encountered ticks in the high grasses on the unmaintained lake trail. The outhouses are the worst I've seen in 50+ years of camping. No lids on toilets, no doors to outhouse & there seems to be absolutely no treatment of excrement in pits, therefore flies & bugs are unbearable. The smell extends far into the campground. Horrendous! There is a port-a-potty at the picnic ground that is a highly recommended alternative and well worth the drive. The Ohio State Parks pamphlet & Wolf Creek pamphlet indicate a Nature Center. I asked the woman in the park entrance booth & she said it was a brown building just up the road. When I told her I looked but couldn't locate it, she then offered up that it is no longer open. I found the broken down building that was a bit larger than an outhouse, a disappointment as I go to parks with nature centers for my grand kids. When reserving a site on Reserve America there were many sites with no pictures or specs on shade & site length. That should have been a red flag. I gave a 2-star rating only because the lake is beautiful & I imagine excellent for boaters. I would not return to this campground.

The lake here was very pretty and there are tons of campsites. The pit toilets were pretty gross, though. Many of the electric sites were very unlevel, but it worked for an overnight.

There is a reservoir close by that you can fish, swim, boat in. The camp sites here were laid out long ago and some can be extremely tricky to get into with a travel trailer. We have camped here in March, May, June, and September. We use this sometimes as an overnight stop while traveling and it works great for that. This isn't so great for spending a lot of time at. Wolf Run has a lot of potential, but the State of Ohio doesn't put any money into it.
The worst park of Wolf Run is the pit toilets. There is no flush toilets on property. They have shower houses that remind me of the open showers in high school. No WIFI, but my Verizon 4G worked great.

Threw up a couple of hammocks and enjoyed the company of a raccoon watching us from his tree perch. Only had one neighbor a few spots down from us. A chill in the air kept the bugs away and we slept under the stars. Earplugs reduced the road noise. All in all, I'll stay here again.
