Overview of Wolf Creek Road Designated Dispersed Site 4

Camp only in designated dispersed campsites and in developed campgrounds within Prescott Basin around the city of Prescott. See map for details: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3797787.pdf. Dispersed camping is allowed outside of Prescott Basin.

Stay limit is 14 days in a 30-day period in Prescott National Forest, except Prescott Basin which is limited to 7 days in designated dispersed campsites only.

Campfires allowed in provided fire rings only. During fire restrictions, campfires are not allowed in these designated dispersed camp sites.

Overall Rating

Wolf Creek Road is well maintained to the Pine Camp but begins to degrade past the Group Campground. Please note there is limited turn around on this road. The road is its worst at the cattle guard which limits rig size. There is also a one lane bridge prior to the Lower campground that is very rutted.

Past the cattle guard the road alternates between sections of ruts and smooth driving with expansive views of the valley below. If the road is ever regraded the sites along its length will be accessible to those without high clearance.

Site four is a pull through campsite.

There is no Verizon coverage in the area.

“Great Dispersed Camping Spot”

Overall Rating

Got here on a Friday at 9:30pm, most the other spots where already taken along Wolf Creek Road. The road to get here is very bumpy with some tight curves. Site was massive and seemed well maintained. There where several level spots that a small/medium RV could fit or multiple vehicles with trailers. Secluded from other campers. Minimal truck and ATV traffic down the road throughout Saturday and Sunday but died down at night. Heard gunfire a couple times throughout the day (but nothing to close). Fire wood is abundant. Solar might be an issue as you are surrounded on all sides by tall trees. There are no services here (water,electric,trash), however there is a dumpster in the Lower Wolf Creek Campground about 10 minutes away.
