If you want a good site get a reservation. Some are waterfront others not. The park is crowded with locals that book for the season. No hookups, nice views, but noisy and dusty from driving too fast on dirt roads. It’s a long way from Freeport. I prefer Bradbury Mountain in Pownal. 5 miles from downtown cheaper and they have walk up sites.

The better sites are usually booked well in advance. However, there were always walk-up sites available when we've been there.

I would call in advance, especially if you want a site on the water. They had other options near the forest but much less attractive
