Overall it was a fine trip, I'm just used to having our own space when we camp in BLM land. This however was just a dirt lot with 10-15 other camper in tents or Trailers. It was great because we were close to Sedona and staying for free. However there were quite a few negatives. It was not private at all, although it was quiet I rolled in at 9pm and felt bad for making a bit of noise while setting up. Sunday morning when we woke up we were super excited to see a ton of hot air balloons coming in for landing- it was such a cool sight. What followed was like 30 noisy tourist filling the campsite while the workers packed up their balloons. This group of old women were laughing and yelling literally 3 feet away from the door of our tent at 7:10am. I had to excuse myself past them just to get out of my tent. Again- not the campsites fault, just some tourist with 0 self awareness. Just be warry of Sunday mornings, I'm not sure if the designated areas further down the road also had this problem.
Nonetheless we would camp in the same area again, because it is one of the very few free options Sedona has.

Just a small dirt lot. Super crowded. The forest service has really cracked down on Sedona dispersed camping. They are forcing everyone to camp in crowded group lots throughout the forest. Really hard to find a spot due to crowds. It’s unfortunate because there is so much open space in this area that could be utilized.

Arrived on a Wednesday afternoon on a rainy day and absolutely zero area for a rig and trailer. Both surprise and windmill were full of rvs and cars. Beautiful views but can’t enjoy them unless you’re just parking for a few hours.

Nice, quiet site about a mile down a decent forest road past Surprise. You will cross a couple of washes so take that into account during monsoon season. Big circular area with room for big rigs to get in and out as long as no one parks goofy and everyone just parks along the rim. Had nice views.
