They stuck to our shoes and jeans just walking on the gravel site. Much worse in the grass. Was like walking through a field of cactus! And our poor dog had them in his paws, face and tail from just the gravel. We usually stay on another branch if Wilson lake at an Army Corp. of engineers park(Minooka). And that park has grass and never a cocklebur! Will stay at Minooka not the State park from now on when crossing Kansas!

My only complaint is that we couldn't figure out where our Loop was. Drove around until we saw a sign. There are a bunch of different loops, so you just have to guess which road to take. It would be nice to have better signage.

Needed a stop on our way to Colorado and wanted something different than a koa off the interstate. Pulled in about 3pm, had water and sewer hookups and beautiful lakefront spot! Inflated the SUP and hung out on lake for a couple of hours to unwind!

We were there to ride the vast amount of mtb bike trails. Early in the season, there were not enough bathrooms available for the amount of people camping. Didn’t bother us since we have a trailer, but friends that were tent camping mentioned it.

- super cell signal (I do remote work) for both Verizon and AT&T.
The Cons:

- most gravel sites will require leveling
- in addition to camping fee they charged a $15 vehicle access fee. Definitely a no-no

Tons of big rig sites with water/electric right on the water at the Big Bluestem campground. Very clean and well kept. We didn’t have any tree cover at our site so it got a bit hot, and had a little trouble finding the dump station on the way out, but those were the only minor issues.

Hardly anyone here in early May.
The fancy pants KS smart phone app with QR codes, etc, did not work for us, so we just used the self pay envelope. Camp site cost was $23 plus $5 for vehicle pass.

Made a drive through the park to eyeball the campgrounds. Another nice state park. The access road from main highway to park is a bit rough, paved but not a very good quality of pavement. Good variety of campgrounds to choose from and nicely spaced apart. Personal preference would be to stay at nearby Corp of Engineer campground.
