No. Flagstaff Ranger District does close and lock the forest roads. Usually they are open by late April or early may. I've been there through late September, but I think they lock up by November. Keep in mind when they do open in late spring the ground can be soft and muddy from rain and snow melt. Easy to get stuck. Take your time and walk it. Yes. They aren’t really “ camping-sites”. Your in the open forest area. You can see where others have stay but you just pick an open area. I hope you have a great trip!!
