“Nice, quiet, clean state park campground on the river ”

Friendly staff. Smaller well cared for campground on the river (river has steep bank but has some access areas). No hookups. They have a dump station with fresh/ potable water fill, coin operated showers, and flush toilets. Lots of trees so not the best for solar. Tent sites are nice and some have lean-to structures on them. They rent boats, sell firewood, have recycling and there is lots to do in nearby towns etc.

“Spring Camping on the CT River”

This is a nice, small wooded campground right on the river. The sites are large, reasonably private and can accommodate RVs, although there are no hookups. The bathroom and shower were clean. We were there in early spring before the trees had fully leafed out so it was a bit bleak looking. The river was rushing by and full of debris so boating was out of the question although it would be great during the summer and fall season. We didn't see any trails really accessible from the campground which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars, although you can drive to nearby Mt. Ascutney State Park. Check in was a breeze and the staff was especially nice. We camped in a small travel trailer.
