Paved Roads and Sites. Bring Plenty of Leveling Blocks. Quiet with reasonable space between sites. Clean Bath House.

Solid asphalt and level. Space between sites was good. Showers and toilets cleaned every day and heated. I would guess during summer months it will be hard to get a spot., For us the cell service with verizon was a solid 2 bars which meant that we could do normal surfing and email with out to much issues.

Our family loved the experience at the campground. We highly enjoyed D2 with our Jayco 27’ (from bumper to hitch) toy hauler. The slightest complaint was the highway noise and uneven campsites. The electrical sites are level and paved. The ranger station has a small drink cooler and firewood but there are two towns nearby for store needs (Middlesboro & Harrogate).
Generators are allowed. Bathhouses were very clean and provided much loved hot water. If you’re looking to be surrounded by the beautiful mountains and soaking up natures beauty, put this one on your list. Highly recommend letting an electrical chainsaw tag along to cut fallen wood around your site for free firewood. (This is welcomed.)
As for local excursions other than hiking, we took off to White Pine to take a chance on a used bookstore which turned out to be totally worth it. Along the way, there is a mall with mainstream shopping and whatnot should that interest you. We did check out the coffee shop in Cumberland Gap…ehh. Great staff, atmosphere and scenery.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in the site #B-7, an E only, BI site for $12/night with an America the Beautiful Sr. Pass. The road around and through the CG is asphalt. The sites along the outside of the loop sometimes have a pretty good ditch to go through to get into the site and have more vehicle traffic go past them. The sites are either asphalt or gravel & grass depending on which loop you are in. Loop B & C are asphalt and have electric hookups. All other loops are dry and have grass/gravel surfaces. Be aware that many of the sites have a fairly significant slope. This won’t be a problem for smaller rigs, but could make it really difficult to get level with a rig my size. I had no issues getting level in this site. A Loop is furthest from the highway and F Loop is closer so keep that in mind as well. Sites in B & C are double wide which made backing in much easier. The road is also a little wider than typical NPS campgrounds. This site has almost total shade which was lovely to have. There are several bathhouses with flush toilets and showers in the CG. The ones I went in were nice and clean. There is a path that runs from the top of the CG down through the middle right by all the bathhouses so if you have a site right next to one, you may get foot traffic right by your rig. I had 2 bars LTE with Verizon, 81.2 mbps download speed, 34 OTA channels. Tons of poison ivy in the underbrush and bear warnings all around (never saw one.) Several hikes leave directly from the CG which was convenient. It’s only minutes to drive to the Visitor’s Center and on into Middlesboro. I would stay here again.

My site was reasonably level and quite large. They have done a good job leveling the electric sites and hopefully they'll do the same for the dry sites in the future. This is a beautiful Park with many hiking trails. I thoroughly enjoyed staying here. Bathrooms are very clean. Showers excellent.

Most sites are long, wide, paved, and relatively flat although the campground is on the side of a hill.
Electric only or primitive. All sites have picnic table and fire ring. Some tent sites have a bear proof box. Most sites are quiet. Low numbered primitive sites subject to road noise.
Clean restrooms. Nice dump station with separate potable water tower.
Good cell phone connection with T-Mobile.

Large CG with 5 loops but only 2 of the loops have electric. We camped here on a weekend in April and most of the electric sites were full but plenty of non-electric sites available. Nice bathrooms with hot showers. Good hiking.
