“No Mosquitos therefore No Deet for me, please”
Reviewed May 07, 2015
So I was camping in Wisconsin and there were so many mosquitos that you had to wear Deet 50% plus, which I know is gross. Even with that those buggers would still get you. Not a fun experience. So I literally googled camping in Wisconsin or Minnesota without mosquitos. This is park I found! In fact, it is written in their park description as a lack of noticeable mosquitos and they are correct.
This park gets busy so make reservations if you need a specific site. I have camped here on two different occasions and have been able to snag a non-reservable site each time. The hiking is fantastic and offers several different type of trails, from hiking near the river to hiking on the bluffs. People come here also to fly fish on the river
So off to the downside, no cell, no connectivity at all. I was able to get some cell/text service when I was hiking on top of the bluffs. The town of St. Charles is not too far away and can get service there. Also a great co-op (I'm a sucker for a co-op) in Rochester, MN, the People's Co-op.
No Verizon service at Campground, however other campers with AT&T got service (update 06/15)
