“Very Beautiful Location Near Buck's Lake”

Overall Rating

Except for the camp host, we had the campground to ourselves. It is about a mile or two east of Buck's Lake. The campground is an older one with mostly tent sites and space for smaller trailers and small motorhomes. We stayed in space 10, which was more than adequate for our 22' trailer. Next time we go we'll try to get the adjoining space as it's a straight back in with no turns or twists. A small creek runs by the campground, but due to the extreme drought, not a lot of water was in it. It's best to approach the campground from the lake side as the approach from Quincy on the main road involves a steep climb that can be bypassed by taking the road to the lake from Quincy (an advisory sign points the way). Approaching from the Oroville side takes you through the Camp Fire area where there are a lot of logging activities going on. Mondays and Tuesdays, we learned, the low use days as the restaurant at the lake is closed and in nearby Quincy mostly everything is closed.

The camp sites are clean and water faucets are plentiful around the camp ground. The restrooms are vault toilets and are showing their age. They are cleaned regularly and are perfectly adequate though a tad on the smelly side. This campground has no Verizon cellular service. I doubt any other cellular carriers have any signal there either, but can't say for sure.
