The Whitefish Bike Retreat is right along the Whitefish Mountain Bike Trail system and is about 30 minutes outside of downtown Whitefish. The drive there includes well maintained dirt roads.
The retreat has a small network of its own trails and a mountain bike skills area, but the main highlight is the easy access to the Whitefish Trail system. They also provide group and private shuttles for other day outings.
They are very dog friendly and offer dog kennels for your dog to stay in while you are out biking.
There is no cell service at the campground, but they do offer free wifi which can be accessed near the main building.
The bathrooms are some of the nicest we have experienced while camping. There are only 2 for the 9 campsites, but we did not experience any real issues with waiting. Each bathroom has a shower, sink, and flush toilet and it felt like we had entered a hotel bathroom when we went inside.
The campground also provides a wash sink to do dishes just behind the bathhouse.
One negative for campsites 2, 4, and 5 is that there is small river rock around the bathroom which makes a lot of noise when someone walks on it.
Our campsite had a flat and large enough parking area for our Sprinter Van, but some sites were better than others for RVs. If you are bringing an RV into the campground I recommend checking out the camp site descriptions on their website.
Make sure to bring and use mosquito repellent, as the mosquitoes were very bad in late June.
Even though checkout was at 11 o’clock, the campground allowed us to check out and park in the day use area before we went riding and to use the campground showers when we returned so that we didn’t have to leave dirty after a day of riding.
A great experience, we wish we could have stayed longer.

Beautiful campground and a lovely lake, worth the dusty drive if you can stay awhile.
