“Needs work but good location ”

Most of the sites appeared to have a side-to-side crown happening, caused a bit of an issue to get level. The restroom/showers are antiquated and there's little elbow room for sitting on the throne. No soap provided either. Family operated, very nice folks. Central location for sightseeing/Bourbon Trailing. The $35 reflects $5 off for Good Sam. Just a bit high for the value. We would stay here again.

“Nothing fancy, but it gets you close to the bourbon.”

We originally wanted to stay at the Old Kentucky Home State Park, but they didn't have availability, so we ended up making reservations here. The campground is pretty run down, as is apparent by the giant dilapidated sign at the entrance. A single-wide trailer serves as the office and all of the buildings also need some updating and attention. However, the manager was a very friendly and helpful gentleman who made sure we were comfortable immediately.

Our site was perhaps one of the most unlevel sites we've had to date, but we did have a great private lawn space under a big oak tree adjacent to the trailer.

All-in-all, we really enjoyed our time in the area and White Acres was close to the best distilleries, as well as an easy drive to Lincoln's birthplace, Mammoth Cave National Park, and all of the other quaint little towns in the area. Even though the campground itself was run down, the service of the manager made it a pleasant stay.

We had saved our most anticipated distillery visit for my personal favorite, Four Roses. It was the day of our meetiversary, the cheesily romantic term we use for the day we first met 6 years ago. To c...
