Whetstone Gulf State Park Campground

This is a great campground tucked away in the base of the tug hill region of central New York. There is a wonderful hiking loop with several options for beginner to advanced hikes. The park offers handicap accessible sites close to the lodge and beach front area. There is a brand new playground area and pavillions for day use.
The camp sites are well maintained and brand new bathrooms with showers are centrally located. The driving paths are paved, excellent for kids to ride bikes and skateboards around! The swim area is a small but I think it’s perfect. The shallow area is roped off well for the little ones and there is a deep end and a short swim to the other side of the swimming area, which is just a damned off river. The damn is right there, fun to watch. The swimming area is well manintained and there is a lifeguard on duty!
