We stayed one night. The staff were helpful and very kind, and the facilities were well kept and clean. Beautiful and quiet property. Water, electric, and dump station. Relatively easy off of I-70

A little off the path from I-70. Google maps took us on a wild ride to a field road in a corn field as the main road in has a bridge out.
The lady working the gate was rude and took everything but my SS#. We had to pay first then choose a spot. Spots are close together and no privacy.
Bathrooms are better than average. Free showers.
I like the first come first serve no reservations as the other state parks in the area are always booked solid.

There is a 180 acre lake to fish and put small boats on. Hiking, biking and equestrian trails.
Newcastle is a quick 15 minutes away and has a Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and well stocked Kroger.
Really a gem of a park!

There is a 180 acre lake for fishing, kayaking- idle only- but no swimming. There are 38 sites that have 30/50 amp service, water hook ups, several antenna channels are available and we have been able to use our portable satellite dish. Cell service is accessible. The shower house/restrooms are modern, clean and the nicest we’ve seen, anywhere. There is are horse camping sites, as well. The park has dirt biking and walking trails. The major drawback is that the campground is first come first served - no reservations.

The lake is beautiful, wish we’d had time to kayak.

Walked in late on a Wednesday night in June and got a site - only about 5 sites occupied. This week was in the middle of a long period of extended rain with lots of local flooding, but sites were pretty dry considering...
Hosts and staff were courteous and friendly.
